Ship desktop PC overseas

Guys i'm hijacking this thread haha

I just got a job offer in Belgium which i am taking, I want to take my pc with me as Buying a pc there seems super expensive lol.

Did you end up shipping your pc or not? or did you bubblewrap all the parts and buy a chassis there?

PC specs
Chassis - NZXT Phantom 410 (Support for EATX sized mobos)
Asus maximus IV extreme gaming Mobo
PSU 750 Watt Gigabyte
I7 2600k 3.4ghz processor
16 gig ddr3 1600 memory
GTX 770
6 hard drives totally 6 tbs
Asus maximus IV extreme gaming Mobo

Selling pcs don't seem to get you a decent price so i feel like its more feasible to take it up with me if possible.

Any wise ideas?

I'm leaving the first week of August.

Sell it and buy another one when you get there.

PC Prices seem really expensive haha... Wonder if its possible to pay the airline and send it up with me :)
Pay for the extra weight, I have the original box so maybe wrap up all parts and send chassis in the original box...

Take the cpu, mobo, ram and gpu with you.

The rest you can there to build a new pc.

I thought about that myself. What I have been told and what I have been able to read on the HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) website is that because they are personal good I should'nt have to pay anything. I just need to fill in a stupid form about the goods.

You can get goods shipped in a part container shipment. Because the shipper waits for a full container it can take a while, but is not that expensive. If you have other stuff to ship, that could be the answer.

What I would reccomend someone wanting to do the same thing is to:

Disasemble your rig and take the stuff you want and either put it in your case or you can sneak it onto the plane with you.

If you are worried about the X-ray operators stealing things out your bag at OR Tambo Itl you don't need to worry. The first layer of screening is automatic as far as I understand there is no operator involved. If you bag fails this then it goes for the second layer of screening which does involve human operators. These operators are physically seperate from the check in bags and they cannot identify your bags, which conveyor its on ect. In the control room the operators are not allowed to have cellphones, the only phone in the room is a landline phone pre-configured with speed dial numbers. Layer 3 screening and up is another story. It's the baggage handlers that are the issue. Secure your bag with a luggage strap that you can buy from a luggage shop or from dis chem. The cling wrap that is done at the airport they will just cut off.

That is what we have done repeatedly between here and NZ. We even managed to bring an LCD monitor back with us the last time

Lol i just phoned around for some quotes on Courier/shipping.

In excess of R5000 for the PC lol.

Wrapping individual components and buying a chassis over there for sure :P

I'll take over a couple of drives including the ssd, and that's all. Maybe not even the ssd, seeing how much cheaper they are in the US. $50 for a new Corsair 128gb on Newegg; so maybe just take over 1 wrapped up hdd.
