Shipping from US?

Not forgetting newegg.com wont' ship to SA.....

LCD TV's also carry duties of around 30% if I recall.....

Let us know if you order from newegg ;)

Yea, I've had the first batch marked as gifts and no customs.

Just wondering with the hard drive, as from here to there, lots of throwing of boxes and I don't throw hard drives around ;)
HDD's can actually take a lot of punch. They're mostly packed in the normal plastic holder, then bubble wrapped or packed in foam.
Not really an issue on the plane, as long as the post office isn't involved... ;)
Guess ill have to ship to other places? ;)

But thats some good info, will keep in mind
Find a buddy/family over there and let them ship as gifts... I've ordered Roland synth' equipment directly from Roland US a few times via this method - saves stacks on import duties.
Got family over there too, just usually only get them to bring stuff with them when they're coming out anyway, might need to persuade them to start posting. :D
The way to go!

Ordered last night, not the LCD though. Other equipment.
And that was about, hmm 11pm and just checked now and my goods are already at - Step 4: Your order contents will soon be packaged and sealed. (going to family in the US then finding its way to SA)

As i posted earlier, if I don't get charged Vat its something like R4800 saving and with vat R3900.

Anyone know where I can get a list of the different custom taxes on goods?

re

how can wantitall have it for R2200 something and shops are R1700

myus.com is not the answer. Go open an account and ship the Dinovo to South Africa. I will guarantee you that the item will arrive here in SA costing more than R1800.

Re customs....I've imported 3 differant items over the last 6 months from differant countries and been whacked VAT every time......Last item i bought from o/s i got them to mark it as a warranty repair/return......Courier rings me once it hit S.A saying customs want the original "export" paper work to clear it thru else pay the VAT:eek:.
Maybe i just been unlucky but good luck getting it thru without getting nailed on the VAT...far as i can see customs aren't too sleepy on it.

The guys in customs are getting a lot better, and are starting to charge VAT on almost EVERYTHING!

Not really computer related but it depends from which country you ship from. In the past year I have gotten items from the US and from Italy. Each and every time I ship something from the States I got nailed with Vat but never from Italy.

The Italian guys seem to be way too sneaky for the customs compared to the US do it by the book guys.
