But he already saved Eskom billions due to irregular spending by the previous cadres.Just another ANC appointment, it's just a matter of time before the stories of thievery comes out. Just as with almost every other one of their cadres.
That sounds very higher grade, it looks like an end result of blatant corruption to me.People blaming/or feeling sympathy - it's truly funny. Yet no one understands that this is the end result of centralised state planning. And no matter the type of party you have communist or "DA" (who are communists), you still have this result.
Of course everything is better under him, this is MyBB. He's the fall guy who inherited all the crap so he's blameless and can do no wrong.Do we have any stats that prove the De Ruyter Eskom taken measures to increase the availability of their power stations, or its just assumption there is better maintenance under him?
True, looking at cold hard data without context is meaningless. However nearly all the post is Yes, but. The article just reflect the report showing the data. It does not make any proposals, just the scoreboard, yet everone is here up in arms to defend him. Wonder why? My personal opinion: I do think that he has done a lot of good and also bringing in some kind of accountability within Eskom. He has received a poison chalice and I do hope that in the interest of South Africa that he succeeeds to get Eskom out of this pool of incompetence.
Because its a sweeping statement that was made without any comparative data - for example what generation capacity did Eskom have under the various heads vs Downtime etc. However nearly all the post is Yes, but. We do accept he's a cadre. We also recognize the work he has done and the money he has saved. Is that wrong? Why are we being so lenient on him? Are people still not accepting that he’s just another cadre?
Shocking Eskom load-shedding data under Andre de Ruyter
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) released a new report which shows that South Africa experienced the worst load-shedding since 2007 under Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter.
The CSIR’s half-year update of its statistics on utility-scale power generation revealed that 2020 was South Africa's worst year of rolling blackouts to date with 1,798GWh of energy shed and 859 hours of outages.
This record-setting load-shedding happened despite De Ruyter telling the nation that their outlook for the winter season showed little to no load-shedding.

That is a very valid comment! Was "Smart-Sabotage=Difficult to prove" taken into account. You can have the best plans but if theres an internal delemma its unlike the plans will play out well........So were all angles 100% covered 360 degrees in all directions-?
I think it is a bit unfair to blame it on Andre de Ruyter. Proper maintenance has not been done for decades at Eskom, and there were serious corruption which caused Eskom to be in a lot of debt.
Andre de Ruyter has done a lot to fix these issues, but will take time to get out of the rut.
This is exactly what I said would happen. Anybody who gets the mess to fix will get blamed for the problems while the ANC will get a pass under their votas. De Ruyter did a good job with the debt but I still think Eskom is unfixable in the long run.Exactly, and if you don't support the corrupt cadres and share in the corruption, you are the problem. If you share in the spoils and support the corruption, then they have your back and won't criticise.
Dames ran everything till it broke down. There was no maintenance and only repairs. It's like driving your car till there's no oil and water left and your tyres are flat before taking it in for a serviceTrue, looking at cold hard data without context is meaningless.
For instance the years under Dames where there was no loadshedding, was also the years of the global recession when the economy was in the crapper. In fact, as soon as economic activity picked up again we went back to loadshedding. So you cannot really say Dames was doing a good job.
The new dawn deserves credit. There were eight ceo's during the time Zuma was in power. Were all of them incompetent or was it the environment that prevented some of them them from making any meaningful changes.I think it is a bit unfair to blame it on Andre de Ruyter. Proper maintenance has not been done for decades at Eskom, and there were serious corruption which caused Eskom to be in a lot of debt.

A cadre of the New Dawn is different. Why are we being so lenient on him? Are people still not accepting that he’s just another cadre?
What statement was made? Don't you think the loadshedding data is shocking? I do. One needs however a deeper analysis to make any assumptions which the article lucklily does not make.Because its a sweeping statement that was made without any comparative data - for example what generation capacity did Eskom have under the various heads vs Downtime etc.
To simply say Under De Ruyter we've had the most load shedding implies that it was his doing only that caused it, which is a bit disingenuous.
