Shocking Eskom load-shedding data under Andre de Ruyter

Personally hearing about hydrogen being used as a coolent instead of oil is amazing. I will use hydrogen in my vibrator next time. Big thumbs up :p

Technically helium would be a far better and safer coolant with similar properties but it's really expensive and we can't produce it.
Hydrogen is a great coolant but sadly explosive.

I can smell some loadsheddings coming.... can anyone else smell it too ?

When that other power station one unit exploded.... it was in the air...

Okay? They used less OCTGs and capacity had improved.

Shock, oh please give me a break! The man took over a place that has been in disrepair for bloody years.
Leave alone all the other constraints that he must be faced with as well. The fact that he is still there given his light complexion is a fkcing miracle in itself...

It's like being told that the Merc you have just taken over is in the garage and when you open the doors the entire engine/shocks/exhaust & engine etc is on the workbench PLUS the car itself is resting on four jacks with no tyres...I rest my case Your Honour

The fact that he is still there given his light complexion? Lol, what complexion was he wearing when they hired him?

This reminded me of the blame game thrown when they ****** that generator at Medupi.. damn ANC!!

Except that last I checked the chief has been in charge for a while with many reported shakeups so like it or not that mess up is on his books / under his watch. Can’t shift that blame unless you a hypocrite but many here are more guilty than the devil of that.

Wrt load shedding in general tricky.. maintenance glut of past can’t be saddled with current exec. What can be is failures introduced during reign.

It's hypocrisy of the highest order, but expected from this forum. No mention of anyone besides De Ruyter when it was reported that Eskom debt has reduced, all the glory to the Chief when things are going well and blame everyone else but the Chief when things go wrong.

Shocking Eskom load-shedding data under Andre de Ruyter

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) released a new report which shows that South Africa experienced the worst load-shedding since 2007 under Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter.

The CSIR’s half-year update of its statistics on utility-scale power generation revealed that 2020 was South Africa's worst year of rolling blackouts to date with 1,798GWh of energy shed and 859 hours of outages.

This record-setting load-shedding happened despite De Ruyter telling the nation that their outlook for the winter season showed little to no load-shedding.
Really? - this period in question has seen the most illegal network connections ever due to illegal aliens and the longer the time since the previous govt. the worse it gets due to no maintenance and the corrupt police who do nothing to stop cable theft and are part of the sin. The network outages often occur through deliberate acts and then those very same thieves book overtime to put it all back. The CSIR report shows how sad the standard of education has dropped with no proper context and probably a racist agenda.

Strength to De Ruyter's arm and may he put the !@x1T_holes where they belong. Time for our President to make good on his promises even though we all know he is also a liar and his "I did not know" during the state capture years is disingenuous.

My point is.. he takes the wins and the losses.. when it came to that, debt reduction.. you can go look at what I said. Ie is it a sustainable reduction or a once off / write off etc.

Ie I’m quite balanced. That being said, obviously he isn’t directly responsible though it doesn’t remove his overall accountability. Guess we have to see how this plays out with investigation and how accountability is dealt. Also how he mitigates the loss of generation etc.

Was listening to a podcast where they mentioned that perhaps he should consider the cost vs climate change costs still to be added and then consider perhaps solar plants near by if feasible? Might be a better investment given the transmission lines already there too.

I dunno.. some out of the box thinking, planning and consideration is needed along with checking costs to determine if it’s worth fixing.

So which former CEO caused the recent lowered debt? Has the debt even lowered once in the part decade?

Oh, you are on about race and can't snswer my questions with facts?
Sure, I am the one who is about race.
Did he not see that they were just looking for a "preferrebly non BBEEE" scapegoat? I would have avoided that offer like the plague.

Blame the white guy, easy to get away with the blame game, as long as fingers ate pointed at the whites

It's because he is white neh?

I don’t know what it is about you but people seem to always read something completely different to what you wrote.
I don't think pretending to be stupid works anymore. People see through it.

I thought it will always be the way internet "debates" go, but luckily not if you have a mature forum with regular users.
