Shocking Eskom load-shedding data under Andre de Ruyter

Unfounded statement. He came after damage was done. Attempts were made to sabotage his authority. Most of the downtime that caused blackouts were planned shutdowns. When last and how often had we experienced blackouts recently?

You can't say such things with so much confidence and not back them up with something, just saying...

Uuuuh...nope.

Not when you actually read the Press Releases by ESKOM everytime load shedding took place.

If a "blackout" happens due to a planned shutdown...there was no planning.

PS> We never had this kind of transparency before AdR by the way...so it does help.

Long ⁴ago I hired a rep, and gave her a 4 year old car from another rep. When the clutch gave in, I said in jest, the previous driver did 140,000 km, and the clutch was fine, but in just a short time you need a new clutch.

This is much the same as the Eskom saga. De Ruyter took over an entity that was not maintained, had been plundered, had no money, crumbling infrastructure and was way over staffed.

He took it over in arguably the worst condition it had ever been thanks to govt not heeding advice from all that power shortages were looming, and Medupi and Kusile were out of control. He also was not allowed to right size the work force.

It is to be expected under these conditions that things will get worse before they better. How much were the uber expensive gas turbines used under DeRuyter vs previous incumbents, as this also affects power availability.

Only this week has the govt finally and grudgingly allowed IPP's to build plants up to 100Mw which will provide a much needed boost for power supply and thus the economy. If enough IPP's come on stream, hopefully this will put the nuclear aspiration firmly to bed because that would be a disaster of epic proportons.

Eskom is so fvcked that there really is not much he can do to make it worse. Krygor and Champ are the idiots who wants to blame a whitey for at least some of Eskoms problems. When black CEOs loot and plunder, not a peep. When a white CEO tries to fix an impossible mess, he must be blamed for the mess. Talk about hypocracy.

Then tell me why you were and are silent on what the CEOs did, but when DeReyter fails at an impossible task, here you are posting away that we are hypocrites. You are the hypocrite.

I commented on many threads about Eskom and its many CEOs, this thread in particular just gropes you on studio, I wonder why...

That's too simple. There's been more maintenance but also more blackouts. Nobody has compared however if unplanned maintenance is happening more or less. He's also the first CEO in quite some time where the debt has decreased substantially.

Unplanned has been higher then last year as well.

There's less planned maintenance and more unplanned breakdowns than a year ago, and therefore more outages.

It's easy to reduce debt when you're charging more and providing less...

Yup from doing pretty well even with one generator down, too 3 of the biggest units down.
