Shopping for a new Bed

Went to Tempur - 30k for mattress only - but they say i need a 'Slate' type base for air circulation.
Genesis and Sleep Active - 15k - dont need a base as i am replacing current bed.

My worry - i have a Tempur pillow, and after 5 years, to me its lost its 'memory' technology.

beds are darrem expensive. my mom needs just the mattress. anybody got decent prices. don't think she has any specific conditions that need to be catered for.

But yeah, the bed is the MOST important thing in your life (especially for my back issues). And expensive is not always better.

Don't know whats your budget but there's a bed display outside Game in Eastgate.
Bud of mine picked one up and he's happy. Says prices were very good.

Where abouts are you located? I bought a decent one for a decent price at a shop near PnP Hyper in Ottery (Cape Town) about a year ago, forget the name of the place now. They seemed to have the best available stock for my budget (about 4k for a Queen size extra length as I recall).

I don't know if the memory foam would last as long as the 10+ year guaranteed seally bed range.

My gran has had her Sealy Posturepedic bed for over 40 years and still sleeps like a dream :>
Has anyone here been sleeping on these modern bed designs (pocket coils / memory foam) for over 3-4 years? I would love to hear your opinions.

Yes. We have had our memory foam bed for over 5 years. When we sleep anywhere else we are very happy to get back to it. I highly recommend the memory foam option.

Thread Jack - I purchased a memory foam gel cooled mattress topper and it was the best R1200 i have ever spent in my life. You wont find it anywhere at that price though.PM me.

We have been sleeping on a Genessi foam mattress for just under 10 yrs now. I will NEVER sleep on a conventional spring mattress again! We also use a latex / memory foam combo pillow which I would never change.
I don't find the memory foam hot in summer, but in winter it is on the firm side until it warms up a bit.
