Short Voice Service

Drop? Probably a plummet.

Most likely, at least for the 1K posters.

We alway see this when we launch a service with a free trail period (we never learn, it seems :rolleyes:).

There's a MASSIVE uptake spike, to the point that the systems way exceed the original capacity designed for. We then up the capacity to cater for the free period and when the whole thing normalise (when the billing kicks in), the systems are probably over spec'd.

But I guess that's a good thing in the long run.

Actually it's quite amazing how people use (and abuse) anything free. At one point, on one of the systems, you could talk for free for the first 2 seconds. Subs discovered this and actually had full-on conversations this way, i.e. in 2 second chunks. :eek:

Phone, talk for 2 seconds, drop call, phone, talk for 2 seconds, etc.

Produce your evidence

I hope your accusations of fraud against Vodacom is not the result of Vodacom's "early termination" of your services.

@Vodacom3G

Your statement above is false! I have never worked for Vodacom!

Evidence is made up of facts not hearsay or gossip.
Produce evidence or retract!

History is proved by names, places, times, and in this instance a contract.
Any clear thinking reasonable person and the readers of this forum will react favorably to that. If you want to gain friends, provide proof.

wild speculations and accusations

You have no idea what kind of hornets nest you are now scratching in.
Lay off or produce evidence!

Yikes!

Facts would be good.

You never contracted to work on Vodacom projects? Your contract was not terminated early?

Apologies, I obviously mistook you for another SimonB who used to do things like beta testing on the Grid and whose services were terminated early. My mistake. Actually it was silly of me to confuse you. Reading your posts again you obviously feel strong about beta testing which, if I remember correctly, was a bit of a problem when the other SimonB (not you) was still involved with the Grid.

So, looking at it, you probably still work for Vodacom, otherwise I'm not sure how you got to 'fraud' of R900 000. Care to explain how you got to these numbers? As you, yourself, posted above:

Evidence is made up of facts not hearsay or gossip.
Produce evidence or retract!

So, please provide the evidence.

The blog and beta testing services that I provided are no secret, I have blogged multiple times about it. I was however not employed by or working for Vodacom during that period! Are you trying to disclosing something that I should know about?

1. Questions are not facts. Produce your facts!
2. I never said that Vodacom took R900 000.00 - Please don't misquote me.

V3G Read carefully and then quote factually.

Update: Vodacom today officially refunded the money that was removed without permission from my account. Thank you Vodacom ;-)

Hell now I'm confused - isn't the grid a Vodacom product?:confused:

I for won't really be using this SVS service (haven't even tried it yet), but I can't really see what a few of the others here are making a big fuss about. If you don't want to use this service, then don't - nobody is forcing you to. For those that are sms illiterate then this service might be of interest.

I really have to commend V3G for some of the crap he has to take from the forumites here. I for one would be very irritated very soon:D.

I've noticed that some people complain just for the sake of complaining without really any major issues with a product. As has been mentioned, companies offer a varied basket of services and you just choose the products that suit you.

The way some members are carrying one here I'm surprise they don't start butting heads everytime the inflation rate in released --> that rate is for a general basket of goods and services, and some would complain that their individual inflation rate is much higher.

mmm @vodacom today repays me for the airtime wrongly removed from my account and for some reason over pays me with R15.00 in each account. mmm thats a first for me.. Never seen that before. So now I have R30 extra airtime.. Thank you for your gift ;-)

Will use it to beta test other products.

It's an attempt to bribe you. If you accept it, you'll be generally corrupt. ;)

Seriously though, if you shout from the rooftops when they take money from you (by mistake) and don't return extra money they gave to you (by mistake) that makes you a hypocrite.

Does SMS, MMS, Voice, etc, etc have an opt out service? I'm really struggling to understand this argument. Maybe I'm just slow :p

No, you are not.

The other blokes complaining surely are.

I will try and put it in context:

A dominee and his wife visits a lodge in the mountains.
While booking out they charge him for a horse ride.
He argues the fact and they claim the facilities were there.
Two weeks later the dominee charges the the lodge with raping his wife.
"The facilities were there."

@V3g: Cary on the good work and take the mickey out of our brilliant slow guys to your utmost capability.

@ you complainers:
Why not just leave it out?
I said it before:
"Keep your mouth shut and the people might think you are stupid.
Open it and they will know it."

Colin62 - eish another person who talks Argumentum ad hominem!

@Colin62 -

1. I Shouted from the rooftops about the extra money: Both here on mybroadband, on my blog and on twitter.
2. It was not a mistake, Vodacom's “Executive Client Liaison Officer” called me up to say she will be paying the money owed to me, and would be paying in R15.00 additionally into each account just incase they missed something. I told her I do not want the extra money! Infact I told her I do not want the money they took from me either. If she continues to do something I told her not to do, then I will view it as a gift and that from Vodacoms part that they are really working hard to fix where in my eye's they messed up. How can their working to fix a mistake be a bad thing?

A bribe is "Something, such as money or a favor, offered or given to a person in a position of trust to influence that person's views or conduct."

By reporting that they gave me additional money I opened it up so everyone could comment and see that I am not taking a bribe.

'Argumentum ad hominem' my rectum

@SimonB

Get of your high horse. Do you know what a ;) means? It means that you shouldn't take what was just said literally, but as a joke. This is the Internet, and the 21st century, do try to keep up.

Perhaps you could point out where I attacked the man, and not his actions? What I said was directly relevant to the argument, half of my post was a joke (indicated by the smiley, and reinforced by starting the next sentence with the words "Seriously though"), and the rest pointed out that your behaviour was inconsistent. At no point did that fact that I think you're a ******** enter into my argument, so if you're going to quote latin in your post title, maybe you should google it to see what it means first.

Shouting from the rooftops is not quite the same as giving it back is it? Vodacom admitted their mistake, and you were still pissed off because you were still out of pocket. They had to actually give the money back. The way you said "for some reason over pays me with R15.00 in each account" implied very strongly that it was an error, not intentional, as you were so quick to point out in your reply to my little joke. You deliberately created that impression, so don't be surprised when people get that impression.

I'd say that by giving you a little bit extra "in case" would be an attempt to make you think better of Vodacom, which fits into your own definition of a bribe quite nicely, as it's an attempt to influence your views. And admitting to taking a bribe doesn't mean it's not a bribe. It just means that everyone knows about it. Of course I never actually accused you of taking a bribe, merely of hypocrisy.

Obviously you don't have a sense of humour, and your logic is pretty piss-poor too if you can infer from anything I said that fixing mistakes was bad.

Just a tip on writing style - you might want to try to go a whole day without using the exclamation mark one day, people might just take your more seriously.

And finally, I try not to argue with idiots, so unless your rabid reply to this post makes sense, I will not be responding.

You know , if all of the heated replies to this thread was done using SVS it would have been a great marketing campaign :-)
I can only imagine on the swear words floating around on those SVS messages if the forumites involved here were to leave SVS's :-)

We can probably bring this to a close, but in closing I'd like to (once again) ask that if you have a problem with Vodacom, of any sort, first ask.

And then, if you don't get a decent response, by all means come out guns blazing. :)

@rwenzori

Yeah i agree. It seems some people think Vodacom is trying to bribe me and that with only R30.. lol amazing how they will try anything to get the attention off the main issue.

@Colin62 lol mud slinging... goodbye
