Hi Guys

I was wondering what the shortest work experience you've had is. Have you ever worked for a company and after a week starting there you realize it's just not for you. What reasons did you have for leaving the company? You don't have to name the company but sharing is caring :crylaugh:

Also did it take long from the time you decided enough is enough for you to find a new job? Feed my curiosity

Straight out of school applied for a job with overseas opportunities.

Got the interview and was offered the job. First day they made us walk and sell door to door. I was there about 30 minutes and left never to return :D

Nothing comes to mind as being valid of being "short".

Haven't had any bad jobs. First "work" I did was fixing the locals' PCs when I was about 12, then worked holidays at a fishing tackle shop from about 16. Later moved to working in clothing retail, then clothing retail management then moved to IT management for the same company. Joined a band and did that for about 5 years after which I moved to working at an online gambling company then management roles there then left there and now in software development. Worst job was probably the fishing tackle shop :D

Had a new typist who lasted a morning... never came back after lunch... she also deleted all the files on the computer before she left... good old DOS and Word Perfect 5.1

I did the same.. Had to sell for Scottish Electric, or something like that. Was taken to Isle of Man, walked out the next morning.

My first part time job was working for the largest tutoring company in SA. I then got my first official job working for the government... so I'm kinda set for life. I can almost never be fired.

Wow goth_nerd, you seem to have had quite the week.

Shortest for me was 6 months working as a cashier at Spar, longest is 10 years as a Technical Support manager for a software company.

2 days. Went for an interview but didnt hear anything back for months. Then got a job in a neighboring city just outside cape town. Second day I got a call to start the next day. I left and just sent them some email about personal issues. Still feel bad though

I bet they gave you a glowing reference letter :)

I lasted 3 days as a floor manager at spar.

even at 18 the hours were just silly.
get to spar at 06:00 to make sure everything is ready to open.
on your feet the entire day, running between back office handling incoming orders and front of house handling stock, managing people, making sure everything is always 100% neat and tidy.

shop closes at 20:00, you have had 3 smoke breaks and a lunch break.
leave work at 20:30 to be back at 6am? fark that noise.

3 weeks...started to see funny things after the first day. like smoke break times for developers and project managers.
