Shortest Work Experience

Technically 3 months, but I was retrenched on the 5th week after I started already - they said I can stay til I find another job. However, never got the 2nd and 3rd salary payments from them either.

did they record the time people took in the bathroom as well?

heard a story that the security guards recorded number plates on the cars that left outside of the lunch hours. don't know how true that was.

so when you left did you serve your 1 week notice?

actually did 24 hours...they was cool with that.

Two days working as a waiter at Whistle Stop. Hated every moment of it (the job, not the company). I've ways tipped waiters well after that experience.

Lasted 4 months then micromanagement started to make things unbearable sucky.

Pretty much the same time and one of the reasons as well (though, there is more to it).

But the thing is I'm 37 and know what's needs to be done. I'm not going to take a chance and try to for a beer or steal 30 minutes company time at every chance.

I remember once I drove to Durban for them and on the way back I'm asked what time I'll be in the office (after 6h30 min in the car) ... Terrified I'd steal the 1hr.

3 months and got retrenched, worked out for the best and the guy they replaced me with was terrible. It was a case of it looks like rattys doing nothing but he's grafting his fur off. Think they went through several okes and even the CEO before realising it's alot of work and caning the project. Still hate them for it as I'd just had my first kid.

Worst part is they head hunted me!

A day. Never went back.
Learnt retail isn't for me. Second day I was supposed to go in, rather went in for an interview for an IT firm. From there started the journey that got me here :)

My first part time job was working for the largest tutoring company in SA. I then got my first official job working for the government... so I'm kinda set for life. I can almost never be fired.

You are what's wrong with SA

Wow

He could be one of the people that is trying to make a difference.

By stating that he can almost never be fired? Forgive me, but I highly doubt that.

I have worked with government and unfortunately that attitude is so prevalent it sickens me.

It's extremely hard to get fired in the US govt, I would suspect the same in the UK
