Why celebrate a political event that has absolutely no bearing or meaning for South Africa?
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
exactlyWho's policing firecrckers?
interesting, thanks for updating me, I last looked at the acts before then, when I was chairman in a complex and wanted to let all residents know they were not allowed to discharge fireworks...Fireworks fall under the Explosives Act 15 of 2003 (Explosives Act) which states that the need for a permit may be excused if their use is in celebration of a specified religious, cultural or traditional event.

I support a ban. Diwali is about lights meaning just lighting lamps will be sufficient. In addition to the harm it causes to animals, a few people also wind up with disabilities during this time after accidents.
The fireworks is modern day consumerism, similar to how Christmas is now.
With that being said, racial tensions do arise during this time (specifically between white and Indian people) and sadly the bigots on both sides often drown everyone else out. The racists and Hindu nationalists from both sides usually make the debates nonsensical and insult matches.
Lemme guess. You also "fast" on Mondays or Tuesdays?![]()

I usually don't respond to you because most of your comments are troll but I will make an exception to this one. It's quite strange that you persist in spite of always being ignored, one would think that you would eventually get the message as most people do.
I am atheist.
I thought you were an expert on diwali with your comments.I am atheist.
I use sunscreen.Fireworks are by and large not cultural but bigger boys using their children as an excuse to play with bangy things, a very non- intellectual / philosophical thing....see rednecks and similar.![]()
Sort of. We were British not that long ago. More like its a throw back to Empire.Guy Fawkes. Seems to be one of those adopted/appropriated celebrations here in SA.
Only people who are for fireworks are the inconsiderate cnts in society.
So what you're saying is...So not only do you endorse the wholesale slaughter of animals for your own amusement, you've directly, even proudly, contributed to the deaths of millions.
This is an interesting tactic..... which speaks volumes about our species.
Parents of small children are not far behind. If you're looking for inconsiderate cnts look no further than pet owners![]()

They could probably do some kind of surgery to make dogs and whatnot hear the booms less.
