Why don't you take a month-2-month low package and give them a try and see if you like it or not?

iBurst is with out a doubt great value for money, but it must be noted that service is non existing, and don't just read this line and think "yeah.... yeah...how bad can it be", it really is non existent, except for maybe rooigevaar that replies to your forum threads every now and then.

I have been with iBurst now for 2 weeks, and i have been holding on for their support for at least 5 hours in total, and in that total of 5 hours i was helped ONCE

My account is still not set up properly, my services weren't all activated, my internet has been down since last week friday, and i had to buy an additional uncapped account just to get internet access. rooigevaar replied to two of my queries, BUT not one has gone further than just a normal reply.

But hey, for 20gg a month this type of service comes guaranteed.

All that ranting aside....
iCall works great and seems cheap (if you have patience to set it up)
20gb is a fair amount of bandwidth (if your internet is on)
1mb throughput is a decent spead (if your internet is on)
R200 is small change (if you earn good cash)

and that's the facts... it might seem harsh, but it's been my experience, and i challenge the iBurst reps / support team to prove me wrong.

nice going deleting my post... here it is again

Your post wasn't deleted, it was moved here.

His question wasn't relevant to the midnight 2 morning issue, so he got a brand new thread for his question.

If you already own a modem the go with A month to month option rather then signing a contract.
With regard to suport the call centre really lets Iburst down, but here on the forum we get excelent customer support (Iburst, Roigevaar and Remot) so if you want send a PM to Iburst she will have some one call yo.

I have been with iBurst for 4 years now as the alternative is (Telkom) getting my phone lines stolen every 3 months, for 3 months at a time. Which they then replace and get stolen a week later, and at the same time they never let you know what is going on or when the lines will be replaced.. it was hell and it literally destroyed my work at home business.

iBurst's service is pretty good if you ask me, I have never had a problem with the call center as every time I have phoned they have helped me in the exact way I need them too.

I tried out the 64 uncapped vas for a month and did not like it, they removed it right away.
I tried out the 128 uncapped vas for a month and did not like it, they removed it right away. (Still charged both times obviously but that is because I used a paid service from them.)

I upgraded at the call center twice and it was all good, I got my stuff 2 days later.
And Isie is right, the service we usually get here on the forums in terrific, and they have also sorted out multiple issues for me with out hassle.

Maybe I am just lucky, but I have seriously had a good experience with them.
Guess I should be saying thanks iBurst too for putting up with my bitching when something does actually go wrong.

So go with the month to month options, start with one of the lower packages just to test it out and so you don’t end up with 10gb's and the signal sucks. Then if you are happy with it upgrade your package, if you are not, then cancel and sell the modem.

Hope this has helped you in some way.

Agreed, start with a 5GB package for R149 a month, if you are happy with the results, upgrade to the 10GB (Pro+ package) free of charge for R198 a month.

Go month 2 month and don't sign a contract. Been with iBurst for over 5 years and still happy with them.

I'm with the rest. Go month-2-month, and get a small package to start with. I have been with them like, forever. :) Recently upgraded to 25GB, with 2Mb modem, iCall, the whole lot. Service is good here on the forum, and if you walk into a store. The techies are also very helpful (for a price ;)).

I take it you are in a good signal area?

I will be moving to Bryanston next month. Hopefully it is in a good signal area. If I take the 5GB package for R149 per month on a month-to-month, will the R149 be the only fee a pay per month? Do they need my banking details? I heard their billing system is problematic.
I will read up on their website.

I opted to go with payments from my credit card instead of a debit order (someone suggested it was less problematic). Also on month-to-month and glad of it for the flexibility but otherwise happy with the product (would love the VAS to be cheaper but that's another issue).

The coverage seems to be poor on my new address. Oh well.

Just saw their modems:
USB = R1699
Desktop = R2399
Express = R2439
2MB = R3499

Is this really true?

You can buy a second hand desktop modem on Gumtree for around R1500.

iBurst offices are located in Bryanston, so I should think they would have good signal there.

I checked on their coverage map and a meters (about 300m) from my street seems to be good, but not on mine

When you move in, I'm sure if you ask nicely they could send you someone to your place and test the signal before you go with them.

I got my desktop modem secondhand for R500 last year. Also with the 2Mb modems available some people are selling 1Mb modems. Apart from Gumtree (which is where I got mine) there is also an "Iburst flea market" sticky on this forum which is worth checking out..

Pretty much - although I got all of mine "subsidised" on contract. :)

As a 6 year long customer I must say, I love my Iburst, for better or worse. All of them I've spent in Pretoria and here I've never encountered any signal issues, so my service has for the most part been perfect. It's only in Rustenburg that I've had a little signal issues but meh. Through all the years that I've spend with other ppl braging about their telkom connections and then ofcourse moaning about conection issues with stolen cables etc I feel at the end of the day I'm still smiling with my 'ol wireless modem.

I've just switched to the something10+ option and I feel 20/month is a certain thumbs up from me =D Month to month is quite allot of security to have as well, do it, you already have the modem. Once you get everything sorted out and setup I'm sure the rest will be a breeze.

Good luck!

Maybe it's time for ME to upgrade teh modem, no...?

my signal is not that great but 30 metres away from me is decent signal so the guy at my local iburst dealer said i should buy an external antenna for R400 and it should work fine. the modem only cost me R750 so its not so bad. but will try it month to month and see how it goes

:D I have the same this end. Everyone laughs at me and my iBurst, but my stability trumps their speed, and that's all I need. Used 20GB this month, and still going strong too. :)
