well it does. wow downloads like 2-5mb's every 30minutes. cod downloads 36mb every 30 minutes
 
Is your CoD local or int ?

I raid and pvp with pings ranging from 300-500 ... so if it bothers you that much - maybe its not the game for you ?
 
I am confused, how is a 500ping terrible? I've played wow for 4yrs with a ping higher than that and I've done just fine, so I'm sure you should be too. If that is enough to make you quit before you even get started then you probably should have just asked someone who plays and they would have told you not to bother.
 
Read somewhere (but dont remember where) that Cataclysm is more responsive than the others. What is your experiences?

Anyway..whats up with that 9Gb patch for Cataclysm. On my ADSL line it would take three days to download and the data cost with a data cost of almost R300. Well worth it though, but three days!
Would have loved it if blizzard could spit the updates in smaller chunks.

I was looking at Age of Conan. They say it's graphics is superb and also has a massive landscape ect. Anyone here played it already? That game is also a 9GB download. Good thing about this game is, is that you can pay your monthly subscriptions via payal.
 
Killed Nefarian tonight, I maintanked him with 596ms the entire fight and have also never had a single problem before. I do raid 10mans only so at least you know it is possible.
 
I use smooth ping and latency jumps between 200-250ms never higher than that u must see if that can help u they have a 14 day free trial and a 6 month sub costs only R250
 
If you're playing on EU servers a ping of 500 isn't great, but it's still perfectly playable and shouldn't stop you from raiding or PvP. 25 man raids and Arena PvP might be a stretch though.
 
dude i did raids 800ms, and still was okish to play with.

just get get sat-3 bandwidth, if your in cot mweb gives it or webafrica for whole south africa.

im sitting 220-240ms with mweb uncapped

80% of the people play on about 500ms - 700ms
now you have some options

Get a faster Line
Get a better ISP
Move to Europe
Use The Latancy fix
Use battleping or any of the othere services like them
or you can Nut up and Shut up, and play WoW like the rest of us whit kuk pings and DC's

I'm on 3g myself in the middle on nowhere in Lanseria, if I can play on 680ms i'm happy

I stopped reading after this. You ask for help but refuse to change your ISP which is fubar anyways.

Thats like asking why you get infected with viruses but then refuse to install Anti-virus because it uses precious gaming resources. It's a necessary evil, deal with it.

Change your ISP to almost any other one and you will see an improvement.

I agree however,

step1: Check DSL line is fine
step2: Test another ISP, I get 500mbyte/month free from FNB I never use, but if I have a problem I will use that to test.
step3: Start using proxies like Reduce The Lag or Lowerping
 
Its easy to play on 500ms lag. If you cant play and you are so full of whine then I suggest get rid of the game.
 
WTF I raid with a 600-700ms ping and have no problems. Mostly top dps, and always top healer.
 
Im guessing cntrlaltdelete has never played on official servers before? Which is why he has so much whine about the latency. So much pro :D

I play on alter IWnet, so their is no way its local, i play on servers from France and Russia mostly

Try moving around wow servers then? Could be the one you are connected to have some problems?
At the end if you are really serious about gaming move to an ISP that don't throttle game traffic. Webafrica have even on their shaped accounts no throttling for wow. I have a webafrica shaped 10gb account and have sub 300ms latency, no other proxy service etc.
