I am currently using Iburst 8Gb(R599 month to month once off modem)

and heard that they gonna change to hard cap now in 2009.

myself is a heavy downloader and network browser....often top-up my cap and end up like over R1000 per month ;/

iburst 8gb was way not enough for me, and i only get 50-70% signal in my area, top speed only reach like 42kbps.....witch sucks.

I plan to switch to screamer WiMAX, caz in my area ZWAVELPOORT there is only Iburst(some part) and WiMax(Screamer says that i should be in the coverage area), i wanna to first try out they 384 wimax.

so here is my question please help if u know:
1. should i rather choose to stay in iburst and limits my self from download?
(i looked in the forum, alots of bad rumer about screamer.)

2.is it uncap unshaped? which mean i can do p2p?

3.how its connect? pppoe(some like that, cant remember) or just connect to router and its 24h internet?

4.can i use switch instead of router?

5.are there a guarantee on the speed.....guess not.......

ya if u can please also give me the recent comment on screamer, tell me wat u think about them, if they not really bad, then i should switch to them soon.

Thanks.

stay away from screamer at the moment...their speeds are inconsistent and some days they make it impossible to use the internet

I have had Screamer since the 12th Feb... I can only say GO FOR IT!
I am yet to expereince a problem with their service.

If you want to get it for Torrent Downloading... I suggest you look elsewhere or get yourself a good proxy or PPTP service otherwise you WILL be disappointed.
Otherwise, I find their service and their network amazing!

This might all equate to my Signal strength being so damn good? I dont know. Most people on MyBB Forums HATE Screamer. I seem to be one of the only two people here that like them!

Give it time...

I been using it for over 10 months, and not had a stable connection yet with stable good latencies. I am busy looking for alternatives.

I suspect that you either (a) work for Screamer; or (b) how low expectations.

Can't you get regular ADSL rather?

I know cable theft is a big problem in that area. Why don't you get a buddy to share his with you wirelessly?

Try MTN"s HSUPA with an e230 fast link modem. Connection is incredibly stable and fast (well in my area in sandton at least). The big downside is it costs R300gb :wtf:. Then again the solution works !

I have been on Screamer for almost a month and it is pretty much perfect. I play WoW, HoN and download all the time and it is perfectly stable and the dl speeds are sweet. I guess it depends largely on where you are.

It's well established that they seem to give "top notch" service for a month or two, and then once they've overbilled you and reamed out your debit order your service levels deteriorate to horse manure.

My service was 100% when i had a ZeroWire Router then they came and replaced it with a Mikrotik router to work in the 2.5Ghz frequencies and after that things went wrong. I stay like 500meters from the tower and i have clear line of sight.

I am thinking about Screamer, but I need a reliable connection and am worried about what I read here.
