Hey guys

I was on the 2mb, now on the 4mb line uncapped for R791 with Telkom

- Telkom voice line with free 7-7 calls (R206)
- ADSL line
- UNCAPPED 4mb line.

Total: 791

I can't stream HD on kodi properly or have two devices streaming.

Will getting a 10mb line help??

Im also not sure whats the price but I assume it's around R1000 :/

Or it's the fact that which ever plugin you are using uses files stored on free file hosts. Download something like Net Meter and use the stopwatch feature to see how fast the streaming is, peak and average, see if you get line speed.

I'll try but generally is 10mb a good speed?
10Mbps is obviously better - 4Mbps is considered the minimum speed for HD streaming.

If you have multiple users, throwing more bandwidth at the problem typically works :)

I am on a 10mbps line and I have discovered that the line speed does not always help.
I say this because I tried a few streaming plugins on Kodi last year, i had cut out DSTV for a month.
Being Euro soccer fan i hunted and found the streams, however 95% of the time they buffered badly.

On a whim i tried the same sources over wifi hotspot from my phone and the improvement was dramatic.

I am not sure any of this is conclusive on line speed, after all my phone is LTE capable but, I was left feeling that the network you are on matters.

I understand, so maybe I'll wait before upgrading to 10meg line. It is quite expensive too :[

Im on a 8meg line and kodi is terrible. I only use kodi for youtube, Ted and Daily Motion. I thought using Kodi for those would be better as everything would be in one place. I reverted back to downloading the official YouTube and Ted standalone apps and no buffering. Netflix runs smoothly with no buffering either.

Kodi is just poor in terms of dodgy links, and because its free everybody uses it for free streaming. Doesnt matter the line speed, its just poor in general

This.

I use a 8mb line and had endless trouble with Kodi/Genesis, it would constantly buffer or sometimes just not start streaming.
The new Kodi/Specto seems better but not sure for how long.

I can't say i've had any issues with youtube or other user content streaming services.

Your ISP definitely matters. Each ISP has their own routing setups. Easiest thing to do would be to get a free accounts from different ISPs and test.

I have a similar problem. I have a 4mb uncapped line with Vox. Kodi is buffering like crazy but youtube streams perfectly. Will try showmax to night.

Guys

Kodi devs hate the fact that their software is being used to stream illegal content. The fact that Kodi is free, is another issue that will affect you badly in terms of buffering, because the streams you are pulling from are being pulled by somebody from all over the world. On one streaming link, hundreds of thousands of millions of seventy nine, forty three(Zuma Voice) people are accessing the very same link which will cause you plenty of grief.

Now try something like Netflix or Hulu, and loads for a second or 2 and its smooth sailing after that, because Netflix just handles things differently, and have invested millions into providing a source that will allow as many people to pull from its servers as possible. Its why people pay for it because they know it will work.
