So you've been personally affected. Sorry for your loss, truly.
Most haven't. Yes, MOST.
This is a fact, 97% of the worlds population hasn't been affected, the 3% that has were more then likely going to walk away from it, with some very few being serious and even fewer dying.

Once again, no mate. Firstly, the flu has not killed more people that covid, unless you mean overall. Which i mean, is a silly statement and i have no idea why you would say something so stupid.

Second, we are talking about what the virus does. Extremely bad flu, can cause blood clots, sure. Flu in general, is attacking your lungs directly, and in most cases, does not cause death or long term issues.

Covid, causes blood clots, that begin to systematically take down your body systems, if your immune system can not learn to adapt and remove the threat.
Severely bad COVID causes blood clots, most people who get COVID don't even know they have it, then there are those that do who report flu like symptoms, with few getting serious and fewer dying.
How would you know if flu has killed more people this year? No one is even bothered to look, all deaths seem to be COVID.

Not the end of the world to me, but something pretty close to that. And when it happens to you, you will most likely understand.
Diddums.
More than half my immediate family had the 'vid. We had colleagues and close friends succumb.

You're like the guy who know's someone who was killed in a motorcycle accident and now hates and wants to ban all motorcycles.

We're (mostly) grown-ups here. Death is an inevitable part of life. Both go on.

- apologies on the diddums - I am as rough as a badger's arse -

Thank you. And the longer this goes on, the more that will. And that isnt fair for them. Not so people can party on Easter.

No. Like I said. We're adults. If your risk assessment is different to mine, you can take what precautions you see fit. You shouldn't need to coerce everyone to fit into your perceived risk category.

You see I'm not sure he is an adult, if he was he'd know to do his own risk assessment and stick by it. Like how I used to rag @neoprema but he took it well and I respect him for it.

I get where you coming from, but the reality is, you can take every single precaution possible, and due to the nature of this, still get it.

And thus, for those people, if you dont have to go out and socialize, its better off not to. Else you might be indirectly resulting in them getting it.

^^ Can't live in cottenwool.

More than that, remember we live in Safrica... rules aren't adhered to, taxis for instance have never stopped in aiding the spread. And yet, covid remains a minor risk.

Keep well.

Don't lie, you know the taxi's are strict bastions of COVID fighting. What with the windows being open and such...

I mean I mean I mean I mean, this is what the people voted for, and those who were dumb enough to stay in this place. The part I don't like is some random typer telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing. If I want to jump in front of a bus I'll do that. Even with aaaalllll the precautions people will get this. I got it last year when it was hardly around, and we were crazily wiping down all our shopping and wearing gloves and double masks at the mall. Here's a fact of life; everyone is going to die. It sucks, I know. Enjoy

Ya. Its not like we can just ban travel and pretty much get that same thing done. This isnt spread by people driving from EU to SA. My god.

Its also a result of the population not being insanely stupid like South Africa.
Based on the argument you are making, SA should have closed the borders in Feb 2020 and kept them closed, while everyone inside is free to roam. I would have been all for it. The problem is that you can never open up without running the risk of huge spread of infection amongst the population that has never been exposed to it.

Read up on what happened to American Indians as well as those in South America when they came across Europeans. WIPED OUT!!!!! So much for isolation.

I get where you coming from, but the reality is, you can ignore every single precaution possible, and due to the nature of this, still not get it at all.
And thus, for those people, if you want to stay in lockdown, it's better not to. Else you might be directly resulting in jeopardizing their livelihoods.

South Africans are largely non-compliant though and so perhaps some restrictions are in order to encourage optimal behaviour..

I'd rather go to level 2 now and avoid the third wave and level 3.

We all know that Easter weekend will be a f-up.
So you're saying restrictions make no difference.

Death rate is only part of this my friend. The virus causes blood clots that will result in long lasting damage in MOST people who get infected by it. Damage that might only become clear years from now.
It's not most people. There are treatments for those who do have that issue. Good of you to come back in time to tell us about the problem only showing up years later though. Although really it would have been more helpful if you'd arrived a bit over a year ago.

Yes we should go on level 2 considering the super spreader that will be posed by the pilgrimages and provincial trans travelling.
The suggested 4 day alcohol sale is a fair move as it does allow businey sustainability without interfering with the lockdown rules as the masses tend to misbehave a lot when under the influence of alcohol but this needs to be carefully as the leisure industry is still under constraints
Is that because nobody could possibly buy alcohol to consume on the other three days?

Ahh, the good old flu comparison. Covid is nothing like the Flu. Not in a single way. Doesnt infect you like the influenza, it doesnt do what influenza does in your body.
On the contrary it shares a number of things with other serious viral infections. Influenza is one of them. It's just a usual part of life though and the majority of people are obliviously unaware of just how nasty influenza can be. That much is quite obvious from reading medical research. Gastrointestinal damage? Check. Heart damage? Check. Long-term fatigue? Check. So SARS-CoV-2 might be somewhat more dangerous, but it is not nothing like influenza.

Its like saying a dog is a tiger, its a moronic statement that shows your total lack of knowledge.
So someone mauled to death by a pack of dogs (or a lone dog given the right breed) should just be glad they weren't mauled to death by a tiger.

I ignore garbage fear mongering statements like he posted. How could anyone know if years from now you’d get a blood clot from a virus that only existed in humanity a 18 months ago. It’s a comment typical of those people who spend their days watching mainstream media and taking in all the hype. It’s a terrible disease this, especially if your genetics don’t agree with it, but all the extra speculation is just tiring.
