Isn't the whole point to see an actual working desktop with Icons, widgets, etc?

It is what it says on the box. How people use their phones is up to them. An uncluttered, minimalist, clean setup is as functional as one with top to bottom widgets and icons... might require an extra tap or 2 but that's about it... Personally I can't think of anything worse than a homescreen covered in icons. Just so unappealing aesthetically. But each to their own and that's the point of this thread...
 
Just to illustrate that clean and minimalist and functional need not be mutually exclusive... Widget at the top of the screen takes you into clock, calendar and weather app. Widget at the bottom of the screen serves as music controls, access to Viper4android settings and browser (in my case Kiwi browser).

Single homescreen icon when tapped takes you into a folder with 12 apps, all of which have swipe functionality IE tapping the facebook icon takes you into FB (or Fella which is what I use instead) and swiping would open Instagram. Swiping the home screen icon also takes you to predefined app, Whats App and Anydesk on the 2nd screen, in my case...

Where do you see icons in my setup? :laugh: That single icon is from Antimo icon pack. The music widget is an existing one I've manipulated to suit, same with the clock widget at the top...

Your setup is decent. I like it. Very busy though. Definitely need to kill the status bar though. You learn to live without it.... :ROFL:

That's not my setup, I want to get the icons in that pic. My current setup is the pic with Madara in it.
 
Wow, that wallpaper is quite unique!! The bottom part of it needs to be blurred so that the icons stand out...

I been playing around with Niagara Launcher and Freezies icon pack. Not everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely love the Freezies icon pack...
