It's just 1 of those Guess  cheapies my lightie got as a gift from someone but he doesn't want to let go of it.

Nothing fancy at all
It's probably a Quartz then. Maybe you lucky and it just needs a battery? Probably not worth to fix if it's anything else wrong with it

It's just the strap that needs sorting out.
Mouldy
Ah, ok. To be honest, straps are pretty cheap so you better off just replacing it? There's some real nice ones from Archer and Barton you can look at? You'll just have to figure out the lug width.

So what water resistance do you need to be able to swim / shower with a watch?

Depends, but personally I wouldn’t do any of that with watches rated less than 100m. Below that, watches are actually just splash proof, not immersion resistant. That 30m and 50m they quote is very misleading

A tan, that’s what I’m wearing. So much for 60% rain, the sun bliksem’ed us on the range today.

Wouldn't shower with a watch at all. Steam and heat are not good for the seals and it only takes seconds to take the watch off.

Swimming would need to have a 100m / 200m rating. As mentioned the ratings aren't what you think. I'll only swim with my diver watch or a quartz beater.

I guess some of those swatches look nice, but definitely not for me.

Bit expensive. For same money you can get an okayish automatic instead. And I'm sure to import to SA will double the price again.

But it seems to be in high demand...

Poor man's Omega.

Yeah agreed. I was in Edinburgh this weekend, and the queues outside the Swatch store were insane. I mean EDB is busy most of the time, but this was just something else. I don't get it... £200 for a plastic Speedy. Much better spending a little more and getting an auto Seiko or Orient. But I mean, its a stroke of genius from Swatch given the hype its generated. But my god, seeing them sell for $4000 on Ebay is ridiculous.

Totally nuts. Even for the $1k that seems to be more common.

I'll grab one for sh!ts and giggles, but only at retail. Let's see if Swatch actually delivers on their "this is not an exclusive watch" statement. I'm not sure if Swatch didn't expect the watch to be so wildly popular (which is stupid if they only made like 2000 of these), or if there was some nefarious scheme behind only making so few of these. Whatever the case, it's cool to see so many people passionate about watches again.

I really like it, although I do like changing straps and would feel a bit limited with the fixed lugs. You thinking of getting one?
No.. was just curious about your thoughts since you're an owner of the original Pelagos. I have tiny wrists so unfortunately its too big for me. Saving up for a BB 58 though - if the Mrs allows

where does one get these in SA ? i would like to get a hold of a couple

You don’t. They were only sold at select physical stores on release date. SA wasn’t part of it. Maybe they might become available on line at some point but we don’t know when/if

It's been too long since my last purchase. Just had to take the plunge and give in to the addiction.
Cheapie Casio from Takealot.

Saw it on a black leather strap on Youtube which really makes the watch pop. (

Interested in getting this strap:

Anyone bought from them before?
