Always a risk with these sorts of things, speaking of which, my Swatch lasted all of 4 days with a fresh battery before seizing up.

Watchmaker around the corner confirmed that there is a pulse from the movement (quartz), and the battery still reads good, but it just sort of seizes up from time to time. Meh. Maybe I misremembered and it was actually the Swatch that ate batteries and the Guess works fine, albeit being a very 'not my style' watch.

I've been scouring the marketplaces and missed out on a nice Presage for R1500 (guy preferred to swap for golf clubs) and a non-working Tissot T-Touch for R500 that was in a dodgy area. Would have made a nice project, that Tissot, but no harm, no foul.

Hey Fellas. Best online spots to buy good quality straps?

Using the jewellers in Sandton City to get my Speedie serviced after it had a 'mechanical' and completely seized. The price is... er.. eye watering to say the least. Double what Bienne last charged a few years ago. 12-16 weeks turnaround :(

Looking forward to getting it back as its been out of rotation for a year.

I've got a real itch for the new monochrome black bay 41…

It's feeling like my 16570 explorer 2’s days are numbered

Stop tempting me, devils.
Nice looking watch and probably not a cheap movement but why so expensive, i've never heard of Victorinox watches being even remotely higher end?
Would you ever be able to resell it for anything close to even the discounted price?

I hear lovely looking thing. I prefer it to the Sub
I also prefer it's pricing and availability to the Sub :)

I've been on the hunt for a 4-line 14060M for ages, because the ceramic sub is a bit too "bling" for my tastes, but you looking at R170K, and you get hollow links :X3:

A bit click bait, but for those looking for a high quality affordable watch, San Martin is excellent

I’ve actually decided to send my Explorer 2 to Rolex to get the bezel replaced and have a full service/restoration.

Why do I love the 16570 Polar, but I don’t LOVE mine? Because it’s had a poor polish job done to it, where it has lost some of its crisp edges, and all of the bezels mirror bevels.

It’s gonna be a premium, but I’m basically going to get a brand new watch back.

Only issue is that none of the AD’s are sending watches to the RSC until mid June, so that’s going to be a 6-8 + 6-8 week wait.

I got a great watch at Mr. Price. I think it was R99...looks good and does what a watch should...tells the time.

My sub fell off a counter once. It Fell flat on its face and the glass cracked. I shat bricks.
Took it in and they replaced the glass and did a service with polish etc. Was brand new after that.

They really make them look good as new. Mine was a gift from my dad for christmas 2009. I have no idea what they go for new these days.

They don't retain value, check Chrono24.

I mean, if a "high end" watch is sold on one day only....

Still looking for a GMT, really, really fancy the Longines Zulu time, but price puts me off, and there aren't any discounts on the 39mm which I want. 42s get discounted all the time.

If I didn't already have an Aquis I'd get the GMT, but also pricey. Zodiac Super Sea Wolf, and the Baltic aquascaphe also on the radar.

Cannot help myself, I'm a sucker for a high-quality, good looking affordable...

Another San Martin.
TBH I don't think there is a better watch you can buy for under R10K, let alone the R4.5K delivered to my door it cost
