Good enough for Jocko. I like the Timex brand. Been around for 140 years.

Nice. Check out the Timex USA site. Free worldwide shipping and a massive range. I bought one for the Ms last year, delivered the next week with DHL.

Exactly to the day (12 Aug 2024) was when I received my Duro, and today, as luck would have it, one year later my two Nato straps from Temu arrived. I went for a black, and an olive green one. They aren't the thickest straps but then again, for R30 a pop, I don't expect them to be.

The original bracelet has held up well. Better than the crystal, at least:

Cannot go wrong with a black diver on a Nato

Still keeping it cheap and small for my koringkriek wrists.

That Casio looks a bit girly, but it's also the most comfortable thing I've ever worn in my life, it just melts away and is barely thicker than the bracelet... if they ever went complete ap**hit and built something similar using a titanium case and gorilla glass or similar crystal I'd throw money at it and call it a day.
(I wish they'd do that, it'd be the first LCD digital watch I can think of that would potentially be a heritage piece while being built on top of the most ubiquitous core of all time)

I got the Seiko 5 (flieger style) so I could test out an automatic before I committed to one of my dream watches, the Seiko Alpinist (SPB377 pictured below). Turns out, mechanical isn't going to work for me, not when you also have a "hobby" that includes a collection of N54 grade neodymium magnets around the house. F0k!

Luckily, I tested it out before I committed.
I think I'm just going to stick to quartz watches for now, but the Alpinist will happen at some point.

Currently looking at getting either a black G-shock with solar and BT support (GAB2100 "Casioak"), or that white G-Shock "Beach Time" where they used vapour depositing on the crystal to get that awesome teal+orange effect, then getting some custom components from skxmod.com and building something custom around the core.

It's too flashy for my style, but the more I think about it the more I just want to try it.
For a custom build based on the "beach time", I'm still trying to imagine something amalgamated from the below combinations I could find online.

Just recently Casio launched their 1st automatic movement watch after decades of doing quartz.

I must say I would love to have a Duro with their new automatic movement.
Apparently starting at around R6k+ retail when they hit South Africa.
Unless you are buying some kind of heirloom watch automatic/mechanical watches are totally pointless to me.
Just get a quartz and call it a day.. no one other than the anally retentive watch nerds will notice anyway so why not go cheap but long lasting and durable from day one.
