Hi all my fellow camera experts

I would like to know what the costs are to replace a shutter on a full frame camera for example Nikon D700 and Canon 5D Mark II

There are quite a few of the above mentioned cameras available on the 2nd hand market but most of them have reached their expected shutter life expectancy so obviously replacing the shutter is something I have to take into consideration when wanting to buy this.

Anyone have a faint idea?

Kind regards

For Nikon, just call them, they are based in Centurion, for Canon call Camera Tek they are based in Joburg somewhere, they'll be able to tell you.

I paid R6k for a shutter replacement for a 1Dx last year. Damn thing had less than 250k on it too :o

EDIT: Looks like I should start budgeting for a 7Dmk2 replacement soon...

Mine wasn't that expensive - took it to a place in Randburg. Near the old Hans Strydom offramp (Malibongwe Dr). Camera Tek. (thank goodness for Google)

Camera Tek would have been the ones who did mine as well. Fortunately they supplied me with a loan unit and insurance took care of most of the costs.

I wish I could get a shutter count on my 1Dmk3. That thing has got to have in excess og 500k+ on it.

My 40D was probably a cheaper camera lol - 6k - you could buy almost new.

True - I'd hazard a guess that a shutter replacement on a 5Dmk2 would be closer to my costs than yours.
