SIERRA On-Line Documentary

This isn't quite related or made by Sierra but I remember playing Wing Commander II, Strike Commander, Seawolf, Syndicate and Sim City 2000 (among others) on my first PC, an Intel 486 DX4-100 with 8MB RAM and a 540MB hard drive, with MSDOS6.22 and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups.

We had to boot DOS into himem to have enough RAM to run the games, although 8MB was plenty back then

Brings a tear to my eye... I think we need an old school PC's and classic PC games thread to reminisce about the good old days.

PS. Thank goodness for gog.com and DOSBox, so today's kids can experience a bit of the good old days

The old Sierra Quest series and Ultima (7) series are probably my best gaming memories.. Many hours lost - and before the internet, so most paid for.

Think my brother still has then all, the big boxes with floppies

The Quest for Glory series was the best. Loved them all too much. I still have the discs, gonna have to do another replay soon. Played the crap out of QfGV especially.

Also absolutely love Gabriel Knight

Nice to watch.
Of those I played the original Space Quests, Leisure Suit Larrys and one or 2 of the Kings Quest.

I remember I got stuck playing Heart Of China, and back then there wasn't really much in the way of internet walkthroughs, so I really got stuck and abandoned the game.

If you guys haven't seen this, another awesome look, from staff. In many respects much better in depth look, and some inside info.

Man, how interesting is this? Great anecdotes and insight about life working at the company and the tech during that time.

I’ve been looking for it for over a decade. Googling the phrase “Game over, Jake loses” hasn’t gotten me anywhere. What’s it called? :D

Sierra... a time long ago when you had to read, think, and type

'put paper bin' - nothing happens
'place paper bin' - nothing happens
'throw paper in bin' - the paper is thrown in the bin

'light paper' - nothing happens
'burn paper' - nothing happens
'set paper alight' - paper starts burning

:laugh::laugh:

I don't remember it being like that. I remember it being quite forgiving in what you typed. I mainly played SQ and LSL though. Only got into KQ later.

Pepper's Adventure in Time was a hidden gem from Sierra. Psygnosis made (/cough, published) fantastic games! The Discworld games were great and hard to fault with. Infogrames made really good games.

Everyone remembers Alone in the Dark, but who remembers Ecstatica?
