hi guys

so I have left Vodacom, decided that its not worth the money anymore.

My number is now prepaid (according to them, and when I login to www.vodacom.co.za).

I would like to start the process of porting to Cell C but currently my number isnt dialing through? As in, if I try call it goes straight to voice mail... Thats not right???

Are you saying that your number is not working properly on vodacom since they dropped you to prepaid?

If thats the case its similar to my situation with MTN. I moved down to MTN prepaid, and loaded airtime, but i couldnt dial out. Called them and tried to resolve for a 2 days no luck. I eventually just gave up and went to Cell C to do the port - after 4 hours, my Cell C sim was up and running, and without issues.

Keeping an eye on this thread.

Wife's contract is migrating to pre-paid the end of this month and we are also going the Cell C Straight Up route.

Also understand that it is very quick and painless to port the pre-paid route instead of contract route.

It seems porting is a solution to the attempts of penalise customers.

ok so here is the thing...

I had a contract with Vodacom. The lady at Cell C didnt realise that I wanted a Straight Up contract from that same number. Basically, instead of porting across and then converting the prepaid into contract, they do the port AS a contract (once VC say its OK). Apparently its quicker than going though as prepaid, and then upgrading to the contract...

All is done now, and Im waiting for my phone to say NO SERVICE, then I will put in the new Cell C sim.
