Facebook last week released a new version of its terms of service - that led to a mass exodus of users

Same thing came up with myspace a few years back, were you could be signing away rights to your content - bit like in the recording industry many years back were they would sign anyone... and not really do anything, that way if by chance something happened they were on the books already

They explicitly said that they respect user's privacy decisions. If you can't take 60 seconds to select only your friends to see your content, that's really your own problem.

Well... there is one problem with that, we need a law to force every "lawly"
person to use "plain english" instead of the half latin / roman language and all sort of clauses to indemnify other clauses. OMG, but this law will also be in latin and roman and have huge amount of clauses.

We have no hope.

The terms were different, but if you look at them closely, you'll see that they have a dodgy clause which says they can change them whenever they like and if you keep on using the service you are agreeing with them.

Agreed. However, this is the trend we're all moving towards, with Cloud computing. These hiccups need to be ironed out, and its only by using the services (FB, Google Apps, etc) that we can achieve a happy median.
