Is it true that there is a delay in SIM card Activation of +- 1 Week? This apparently is due to Systems being upgraded at Vodacom.

Contract or pre-paid?

I '100' activated a pre-paid SIM card on the 9th, and apart from having to wait what appeared to be hours, it did get activated.

Yip. Its been going on for quite a few weeks now. We had some seriously angry customers too. As for it being Vodacom doing some upgrading, i doubt it. I think theres more to it...

Contract but what is the difference? Why should there be ? From an activation point of view.
This is from a companies call centre that has several activations to do. With some seriously unhappy customers.

Just confirmed with the relevant director in charge of the activation process and according to him there is no known technical problem.

PM me a number that either had this problem or is seeing it at the moment and I'll pass on.

I have sent you a PM with some information.

I have learnt that it saves time to ask some questions upfront, which may or may not prove to be relevant later on and help establish some sort of a pattern if one exists.

Contract and pre-paid are mostly different in most back-end systems, so it's nearly always a valid question.
