Hi Guys

I need some help.

The last 2 months three of my neighbours started asking me if I knew what was going on. They started getting "Sim Card Rejected" errors on their mobile phones. They need to restart their devices in order to get it working.

The problem grew to about 5 people in my street, which I know of getting the same error. Two people at my previous employer also mentioned that they are getting the same error and need to restart their phones,

Well, this morning on my BlackBerry I noticed I did not get any emails. I checked my phone, and what do you know - SOS - Sim Card Rejected.

I restarted my device and it started working again.

I know of about 9 people, including myself now, with this problem.

The problem is that it happens at least once a day with many of them. Sometimes the devices works for a day or two, but then it comes back.

What is up with this?

Edit: I just need to mention that 3 of our sim cards are less than 3 months old.

I noticed the same thing when I used Blackberry also. Did not happen very often though. Perhaps you VodacomData can shed more light on the issue.

You can pm me your address details etc so we can investigate , it sounds area specific in your case?

All,

Can you please PM the following info to VD if you've seen this problem as described above: Please include:

1. Your contact details
2. The MSISDN (Cell Number)
3. The make/model of handset
4. When/where it occurred

my blackberry does it at least twice a day,

all vodacare can recommend for me is to take my phone in, which is not an option, as i need my phone for work ( email , etc with clients) i have done the lastest software update available from vodacom, but still it does it :((

Same thing happens with me from time to time - about once a week I would guess - Blackberry Torch. It doesn't happen in one place only.

Will send a PM next time it happens.

interesting, this seems to be the BB equivalent of the iphone "no service" thing which only seems to happen on the vodacom network.
I'm pretty damn sure there's some non standard setting/config/thingy thats getting this confused when you switch from one vodacom tower to the next.

VD...once of my corp clients are complaining that on their Blackberries, the phone will start saying "Call Failed" all the time. They then have to reboot the phone also and then it works fine for a while before it starts again. Not a specific area he says. I will PM you the number also. Seems to be similar to this problem.

Had a similar "SIM Rejected" issue this week with the missus's phone. Just started out of the blue, and the only thing the call centre could say was that the SIM card had been damaged.

A SIM Swap did fix the issue, but i just don't see how the card could have been damaged when it hasn't been taken out of the phone in months (and its not an old card either actually)

Has anyone considered the possibility that the voltage levels req'd for the SIM card is incompatible with the phones in question and it works, most of the time because its on the borderline...

I have experienced this same problem and for me it occurs every time I drive on the N3. When I get to the area near the Linksfield offramp it suddenly says "Sim Card Rejected" and it's done it 3 times now when crossing that point. Seems to happen mostly during the daytime because when I cross that point at night it does necessarily not do it.

Not the same problem, but my simcard restarts the phone once in a while by itself and does it in every phone.

Do I need to replace the simcard and how do I keep my same prepaid number and messages/phone numbers if not saved on phone already.

Mine has done it on a number of occasions too (Bold 9700 and Torch).

My understanding it's the phone itself and not the network? A quick Google shows it's all over the world? I've had a 64k and a 128k SIM - so I don't think a new SIM or anything helps
