...I have noticed that the price of Fallout 4 has changed for the second time now. At release it was R600. For the last week or so it has been at R700. Just now it is priced at R800.

No I've played FO3, FO New Vegas and FO4, each one story stands on it own.

No it wasn't. It was around R600 when the currency switch first happened. Regardless of whether or not a discount is in effect, you can always see the regular price for a product on Steam.

I discussed the price increase with a friend at the time. We both noticed it, and were rather bummed.

Don't think so. The price increased occurred within 48 hours. Probably a case of Bethesda not liking the RRP Steam defaulted them onto.

Don't buy FO4 now, if you have't played the previous titles, buy Fallout 3 and/or Fallout:New Vegas , both of them you'll get for like R50-R100 . They are as good , if not better than Fallout 4 to be honest. I won't be surprised if most of FO4 sales are based entirely on people's experiences with FO3 , and not about anything special that is in FO4.

The only thing you are probably missing is, it is basically Skyrim in a world that resembles The Walking Dead. Some might say this means you are missing alot....

We've benefited a lot by the currency switch. Most $10 products are R109 for us - that's $6.86 at the current exchange. Even R799 is $50.

Make sure you mod the crap out of any Bethesda games you play. Especially Skyrim.
