Sinus headache

What i find works, is the daily usage of Flexinase nasal spray which takes my heyfever and any sinus issues away, obviously only with prolonged usage.

Ditto. I was on Flixonase, then Nasonex, now Nasacor (which seems best now - but I think it helps to occasionally change types). It's really made a big difference in quality of life.

I use the Iliadin Saline nasal spray. You can use it every day (not only for 10 days like the decongestant). The saline clears those sinuses out and voila...no more sinus headache. I swear by the stuff.

A little trick to solve a sinus ache quickly without medication is to warm up some water, add a pinch of salt and some bicarb of soda (the bicarb eats the mucus). Mix it well, take a straw and fill it with some of the solution.
Get down on the floor and place the top of your head on the floor so you are in essence standing on your head, although you dont need to stand. Put the straw in one nostril and let the fluid run out. This runs down the bridge of your nose into your upper cavity. Once filled up, stand normally and hold nose closed, shake head slightly to work fluids around, then blow softly into a tissue. This helps alot as the salt cleans infections and the bicarb unclogs..

My ENT recommended a solution of about 1tsp salt + 1tsp bicarb to approx 500ml water.

Although it's far easier to lean over the bathroom basin & snort the stuff into each nostril. It's hurkalicious when it goes down the back of your throat*, but it at least cleans things out a bit.. and it tickles. :)
Just be prepared to blow your nose a few times afterwards too.

* - If you have postnasal then this won't bother you too much. :)

Many of the nasal sprays are addictive...so be sure to read up on whatever you are using.

I use (red) Sinutab + Nurofen (but pills are not effective for you). If it's blocked, I use menthol crystals in hot water - opens up all your passages (and burns your eyes :)). If it's solid/dried-up, then nasal sprays. (Also over the winter I've been using a humidifier at night - that helps prevent dry sinuses.)

I don't like the thought of nasal irrigation but I would think it's a good thing...

Nasal spray with 1% povidone iodine cream dissolved in 4 parts water, burns like hell but it works

Update : No more sinus attacks.

I stopped using any sinus medications, and used Parameds whenever the pain was too much.

After a year or so no more sinus attacks. Maybe it was because I stopped using sinus medication, or a change in my diet...

That's great. Not having headaches must have changed your life. Strange how some people are headachy.

Barometric pressure also plays a part like getting a headache before a storm.

Nice one TL...what diet changes?

I'm just always surprised at how people just accept it though instead of trying to fix it. Sure some of the more vicious cases like cluster migraines don't always have a solution but at least try ffs.

For starters - more vegetables and healthier food, and less take-aways

Less salt as well

Drinking more water, and less fizzy drinks (Coke etc).

And also we cut out a lot of instant foods.
