No its a WL-610 3G Ready router. I've got the manual. Its a pdf file. I can't find anythnig useful in the 3G setup section (that just describes the screen I printed earlier). Is there a way to upload it onto the thread?

When I first configured the 3G part, I used the UK settings, which gave me the config I've shown you earlier. I've just had a look at the Manual config, and it asks for things that were presumably pre-configured under the UK setup. The Manual setup screeen is listed below. I've a feeling I should just set this up correctly rather than trying to shortcut the process by using the UK setting - do you agree?!

Manual Config (For countries not on the standard list)

Please, enter the data which is supplied by your ISP.

Login Methode: Static IP Address (should this be static or dynamic?)

IP address: 172.1.1.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway : 172.1.1.254

Primary DNS :
Secundary DNS (Optional) :

This setp requires a Primary DNS before it will save the confi and apply it. Can you tell ne waht it should be?

I can't find any other modem settings within the router config.

Try setting the login method to dynamic. Where does it ask you to set the APN?

I think we're going aruond in cicles a bit here. The setings yuo refer to (p 23 of manula) are the ones avaialble if you choose any of the countris in the drop down list. I previously had chosen UK and had completed the fields with the PIN and APN = internet. It didn't connect to the 'net like that previously.

I've gone back into the router configuration and change the fields back as suggested using UK, and then I plugged the modem into the router. That drops the wireless network and I can't access the router, let alone the net! Even when I reset the router it brings the wireless network but I can't acccess the router config. Doesn't that imply some sort of address conflict?

Thanks, I'm now a Dovado fan!

Just to let you know that I gave up with the Sitecom router, and opted for a Dovado, based on the great reviews it had got on this thread. It took me all of 5 minutes to set up! I learnt a lot messing around with the Sitecom router, but its great to get a product that just does what it says it will do. Thanks for all the help. Now I'm going to start playing with some of the more advanced features, like home automation.....

Cool. Hope you get your money back for the Sitecom, otherwise ship it to me an I'll mess with it ;)

Sitecom 3G Router setup to Vodacom

Hi,

I managed to connect my Sitecom WL-326 N300 3g router to Vodacom by doing the following:
First disable the pin request on your 3g modem
Do a firmware upgrade on the router to ver.1.5 (latest)

Run the Configuration Wizard
Select 3G mobile
Leave the pin field empty
APN - enter "internet"
Leave username and password blank
At phone number enter: *99***1# (not the cellphone number)
Select keep connection.
Apply the changes witch will cause the router to reset

After the reset it might take a few minutes for the modem to show a constant blue light wich means it is now connected.
You can double check by going to "Internet Status".

This worked with a HUAWEI E220 HSDPA usb modem and I could not get a ZTE K4505-Z usb stick modem to connect using the same steps above. I logged a call with Sitecom support and are awaiting their response

You were waiting on a response from Sitecom. Have you had a response from them? I have an iPad without 3g and want to connect via wi-fi modem. Your settings work with the E220. However, I have 2gigs on a ZTE K4505-Z modem from Cellc.

Thanks
