Hi All

I've recently installed win7 and the new skype, however i've noticed that all skype calls goes out of the international connection even if the user is definitly local, if i do a traceroute to the user it goes out the local connection but skype still uses the international,
i could be mistakened but im pretty sure it never use to do this under WinXP?

has anybody else experianced this or prehaps have a solution

thanks

A tracert to the user's IP would obviously be a local route. But all Skype users connect to a central international server, and therefore use international bandwidth. I'm open to correction, but that's my understanding of it.

i hear what you saying, but it creates a direct tcp/udp session to the users ip address, this can be seen by doing a netstat
if it connected to a international central server, then that hostname or ip would be showing, and not the local persons ip/hostname

unless im horribly wrong lol :)

local skype!

No, tonight using telkom local long after being capped on intl i was astonished to see that skype worked 100%. no intl required. i was TALKING for a long time. on titracker confirmed it was not using any blended bandwidth. very cool!

Not for me. Some international bandwidth must have leaked through to connect you to the international server.

Somebody else confirm if it's possible on your side? I am Skyping local.
