Skyrim

I am also keeping Barbas the dog as long as possible although he is not following me anymore, I know where he is. He is indestructible but a pain in confined spaces.

There is a certain evil pony (you'll know what I'm talking about if you've gotten it through one of the factions) that does a better job as a tank :p

I've ignored many many books. Sigh. Just don't have the time to look at every single page!

I don't read every page, I just open the books. That is all you need to do...

...further to this I steal them to read them later at my house.

Are the faces that bad that you need two mods for them?

No, they are actually very good. Modders just make them so much better though :p

I've discovered that when looting chests, if I select "Take All", then Skyrim exits to the desktop. No crash report, just a clean exit. Happened thrice in different locations

Is this a bug?

For some reason mine only ever quits to desktop while fast travelling :wtf:

You don't have to open every single page. Just read the book and the moment the book appears on the screen then you can just close it if you not interested in reading everything. You will still get the side quests/ skill points.

I <3 my khajiit. Last night I was able to one hit kill a giant :D

Is it just me or why can I only wear 1 ring? On oblivion you could wear 2 rings

I've also collected every book I've come across so far. Have at least a 100 books stashed in my house. The ones that are marked as "steal", I just read. Wonder if there is a list somewhere. I must have gotten the bulk of them by now.

The ring thing kind of sucks. I have 8 fingers, GIVE ME 8 RINGS!

And I suppose you want a giant chain necklace in the shape of a dollar sign, with a spinner in the middle?

"They see me rolling, they hating..."

:p

I get two rings, but one ring? That's a touch dim.

Maybe it'll get patched.

I forsee dlc taking us into Vvardenfell and Tamriel. :D

As far as I know theres only 1 ring due to possible exploits with stacking bonuses...

Imagine 2x 100% magicka regen rings :erm:

I've got the archmage robes with 100% regen, and also Morokei also with 100% regen. It regenerates fast, but not really an exploit.

Thinking about it,

I've picked up (and sold) +100% regen necklace, +125% regen master robe, +100% regen ring with +magicka (or reduced magicka cost of say conjuration) on head, gloves and boots - seems pretty insane if I was a mage

I've picked up various items with +archery damage, if I were to equip them I'd have something like +90% bow damage along with the 5/5 bow damage perks (+100%)... it would be game breaking for me

Almost time to go dragon hunting again. Considering skipping gym just so I can get those extra two hours in!

It like that Episode of South Park "End of the World... Of Warcraft" :p

Ok, so I installed a myriad of mods: Better bodies. no more blocky faces, better lips, eyes and blood. Or at least, I *think* I installed them. They are all copied to the relevant data folder, but they dont appear on the Data list for activation in the startup menu. Should they?

Going to play with the visual tweakings now, see what I come up with.
*geekgasm*

Edit: Tweaked a little and I like what I see. Still getting that damn CTD every 10 or so minutes. No idea how to fix it. Gamesguides.com and various forums seem to offer no solid advice. Will Bethesda ever get this fixed?

I got crashes to desktop only when I fiddled with the skyrim.ini file. Had added the ipresentinterval=0 to remove the 60fps cap. This caused the game to crash every few minutes. So changed the file back to the default settings. No crashes since then in over 40 hours playtime.

You do not need to enable mods in the Data list which only replace textures, like the ones you installed. They should be used automatically.

That sucks dude :(

You've probably tried the following but let me just mention it just in case:

Try validating the game files in steam.
Close any background program that you can.
Try running the game as administrator.
Try running it with xp compatibility mode.

I know some of these ideas are probably stupid but I normally do all of them if I get problems running games.

If you have an hour or so to spare, download memtest and let it run a few times, I had a problem with my ram once that kept causing crashes with some games.

Hope you come right.

My archer/assassin/thief dude is lvl 12 now and still struggling along.

- My archery is getting better, 1 pt away from getting the x3 bonus with sneak damage
- My 1 handed is coming up, but doesn't seem to be very beneficial for daggers

What is quite cool that I've found is that as a low level lockpicker, you can still pick the top locks. I was lvl30 or so and managed to pick 4 expert locks and 2 master locks. I went through copious amounts of lockpicks, but the loot was worth it. I got myself an elven bow, elven blade and "elven boots of sneakiness". :D

Now a question regarding groups you join...I'm not a brawler or anything and I've only made it to as Whiterun as far as cities/outposts go, so naturally I signed up with the Companion. I've done a few quests with them and I'd like to know whether it will still be possible for me to join the assassin guild/dark brotherhood later on. The companion okes keep moaning about thieves etc. being lame.

Lastly...as far as skills go, is it worthwhile to buy skill points from trainers? I try to limit this to my main skills only because making money seems to be a bit of an issue for me. I average around 3k gold before a trainer sinks it down to 800 or so after 5 lvls.

Afaik it is only the Imperials/Stormcloaks where you have to choose. Otherwise, you can join as many groups as you want.

I think buying skill points will be more worth it later in the game when you have loads of cash and you're impatient to level that skill.

If you want to cheat a bit, there's an archer in riverwood that you can make your companion. After he's your companion, ask that he train you in archery, then just take the gold back out of his inventory :D
