Skyrim

YAY!

I must have killed 12 dragons that didn't burn up and give me a soul

With everyone talking about doing the main story quest, am I the only 1 that is saving it for last?

I still have 35% of the map to explore, 25 dungeons/caves I've discovered that I haven't cleared and so many side quests keeping me busy

I have had that one as well. One other annoying one is where the dragons don't attack. They just fly overhead and nothing I do brings them down. And I suck at firing arrows at a flying target overhead.

I did the main quest up to finishing the horn quest and have left it alone. I'm not sure if the dragons disappeared after finishing the main quest so I was filling up on shouts and dragon souls first. I think I have all the shouts that you don't get on quest lines now.

Endev I have the same issue with dragons doing a fly-over a few times and then flying away. :/

As for shouts, I have about 6 or 7 of them, but only 2 are usable despite having reaped 5 or 6 dragon souls. Is my feeble mind missing something? Do I perhaps need to go "train" them at the greybeards?

If you are playing the PC version, select the shout and press R. It will prompt you "Do you want to unlock this shout" select yes. You do the same when you learn new words of power for existing shouts.

No sir, on my xbox when I select it, it says it's not active or some such. I'll have to inspect it more closely tonight. I hardly use my 2 shouts though, the pushback one is only used when I'm crowded by mobs to give me some space to arrow them in the face. The shadowstep one could also work I suppose.

EDIT: Nvm

Voicy scroll over the shout you want, then check the bottom left of the screen, it should display what button to push in order to unlock the shout

I got Storm's Call... it's my favourite visual shout :D

Done some googling and it turns out that you need to highlight the shout and press X to unlock and upgrade it. A selects the shout, X unlocks. Nice and simple

It would help if I actually read, hey? :o

Thanks for checking up on it!

Skyrim uses just 2gb of available ram, but the loader available makes it 4gb usage. This is awesome for people who are maxing or tweaking their visuals. If you're suffering severe CTD's every couple of minutes, this also eliminates them :) I highly recommend.

How do we go about doing this? How? How? HOW? :)

Do a google search for "4gb Skyrimnexus", that should land you on the nexus page for the installer. Download, follow instructions and install. I'll post a link when I get home this afternoon.

Innnnteresting. It's pretty strange that a piece of technical genius like Skyrim limits it's memory usage in this way. Where's the 64-bit version already? :D

Skyrim is getting patched tomorrow. I'm not sure if it will break the 4gb fix.

The 4GB mod is overrated, I have 12GB tripple channel, running 64bit OS obviously, and with the 4GB mod memory usuage still hovers at 20%. And yes I have everything maxed out at 1920x1080. Before and after the mod I never had any crashes.
I doubt its because I have 2GB video RAM or running on a SSD.

Found it, ta.

What does it actually do? Gameplay speed up at all? Cause I'm not exactly battling, but would love my FPS to be higher.

The 4Gb limit is the total amount of memory the game can use, including GPU memory. So you might not see an increase in normal memory usage.

That makes no sense. You saying if someone has 2x2GB gfx cards, then the game is going run everything in gfx memory?? :P

I have no idea about the memory side of things, but I can attest that it solved some stuttering I was having (when I spun around trying to find those creepy Draugr) and solved my CTD problem (thanks Steam)
