Slovakia VS Italy

Italy sucked piles this year. England at least qualified, as crap as they were but Italy really, really sucked. Wonder if the players got the memo that it's the SWC that they are playing in. I watched the NZ vs Paraguay game as I thought "Italy vs Slovakia, going to be a one sided game of 5-0 to the Italians, boring." God I ended up watching the wrong game. I mean for fusk sake, it's Italy vs Slovakia not Italy vs Brazil, who would have thought the Italians would fusk up that.

Get a TV with Picture in Picture and then you can watch both :)

I was at the match and I can say that Slovakia played very good football.
Looking at their last two games Slovakia were average, I'm really happy with the outcome and the way the Italians fought back it was quite scary, majority of the stadium were Italian fans!!
 
Notice the difference in how the teams and coaches handle an early exit from the World Cup.

The French:
The coach throws a hissy fit, blames everyone else and won't shake the hand of the coach of the team that knocked his team out.

The French team itself completely implodes, blaming eachother and their management.

On the other hand you get the Italians:
World cup winning coach Marcello Lippi accepts full responsibility. He spends 15 minutes essentially berating himself in front of the press, explaining why he feels that he is responsible and what he believes he did wrong. He retires gracefully...on a low, but gracefully.

The players themselves accept that they simply didn't have what it took this year. They admit that this is the definitive end of this era of Italian players, and that a new generation needs to step up now and take over. Some of the old veterans announce their retirement from the international game.


I was really miffed that Italy went out, but seeing how they accepted responsibility and immediately looked to the future in an unselfish way, I am actually at peace with their exit. This really was the end of an era for the Italians...and what an era it was. 2006 Campioni del Mondo!

Yup but i only went with that score because they always claw their way out of a hole and that is why i said:

Well as usual the italians look rubbish and i reckon they are this time round but never right off italy.

Yes they were rubbish as i said.

Besides i am glad i was wrong my soccer6 at the moment has a shock paraguay draw, italian loss, denmark loss, now if cameroon draw level another shock draw :D. 2 mores games but could be a nice fat payout again.

Maybe jk you are assuming the swiss can win. I hope they go out because the soccer6 will pay like 30k+ and i got any result covered :D. If chile win OMG the payout will be huge

Fking A cameroon scored, if they hit a winner and spain lose, saturday is going to be epic for my bank balance :D
 
Lippi and friends embarras us. Predicted it was a very poor squad before the tournament but they even out did my low expectations. Couldn't even get out of one of the easiest groups.

Prandeli will make big changes. Only positive thing is the french are in bigger turmoil.
