Hi
I have a problem with my laptop, everytime I connect to the internet after few mins or secs it freezes,I scanned it,tried online virus scan with reputable security softwares, tried claning registry but the problem persist, what could be the problem? I tried various registry cleaners your CCleaner,PCsuite cleaner,SpeedmaxPC,etc but they identify the problem and require me to register their products for a fee,but I am not sure if its the right thing to do...what do you do when your PC is slow and freezing?

PS: I have 8.5GB free space in my drive C,34.8GB in my drive D and the system have 2GB Ram,it didn't give me problems until recently,I suspect trojan but non of the malware and virus cleaners xan identify it,I can't afford to format my PC I am in the middle of a project due this friday!

One other thing how can I partition my already partitioned PC without formating it or something like that? I gave drive C 40GB and D 280! I regret the decision cause drice C keeps overloading and I have to manually move the items to drive D.

Help.

If all else fails backup and format, it will probably save you time depending on if/when you solve the problem.

Try reinstalling your web browser or updating it to the lastest version. If it only happens when you connect to the internet, it might be a program such a Adobe trying to update itself without success and chowing massive system resources trying to resolve the error without telling you.

Perhaps close your programs one by one when you connect to the internet until the problem stops, then you have your problem app. Uninstall and reinstall it if you want.

Clone the drive to a new drive and install that drive. I used redobackup a free program on my laptop. Stuck in the new drive and no problems since then.

Thanks everyone I will try the methods, but uninstalling the browser? hmm not sure,my girlfriend facebook passwords is saved on the browser, chrome and opera respectively....how do I save the password somewhere so I don't lose them? Don't know the password was helped by "remember password" option

Sounds like you keep the your gf passwords just so you can spy on her :p

You can uninstall Chrome or Firefox, IE is just too much effort to remove. Rather see if you can download a fresh install from the web and overwrite the existing installed version you have.

with regard to finding your gf's passwords there is a bundle of password recovery software on the net that will display the passwords that are stored in the browsers. just Google and take your pick.

I would bet a few problems came from the use of "online virus scanners" and "various registry cleaners". Stay away from those popups! and yes backup and format, it doesn't take very long. forgotten passwords can always be recovered from the institutions involved. If it is your girlfriends password as Macethy suggested, I can't condone it, but get her to use your pc again.

Pinching myself. Pinch. I'm not sure if I am on mybb or Yahoo answers with 12 year olds

You say that "you connect to the internet"? That mean you have not got an ADSL-line or wireless connection that is permanently on? If so, then it happens when you open your browser. Which one are you using?
Are you using Windows XP or 7?
Are all the drivers on PC up to date as well as program updates? Are you using the newest browser available?

Take a compressor or can of compressed air and blow the side vents of the laptop. Alot of laptops have airflow problems. If its overheating and getting too hot this will most likely fix it.

Hi There Oscarlets,
I wrote a post highlighting some great tools here. That might assist you with increasing the partition size at least until you are out of the deadline period.
Then you need to backup and re-format making sure that you have installed anti-virus before loading the backup back.

Passwords are personal and I am sure that your girlfriend can rememeber them. If not facebook does provide a number of recovery mechanisms which mean you don't need to hack them.

Keeping the vents clear is essential even on workstations. If you use a laptop on a lap then it is in closer proximity to fluff. Blow it out is a good option but you may have to open it up to do it effectively. If you are going to uss it on your lap then I suggest a cooling Pad (Microsoft one is very good) to provide extra cooling and keep it away from your clothing.

Regards

Tim
