Is it just me or are all the Google services slow lately? (Google Search, Gmail, YouTube)

All other websites work fine...

It's not just you. My GMail is barely loading today. No idea why.

Anyone else have a clue?

Gmail very slow today. The rest seem fine for me.

had the same problem the last few months. intermittent. I am on mweb.

Yip, it's an issue with Chrome. People have mentioned it with other ISPs too though seems more prominent with MWEB. I suggest using a different browser for Gmail/Google services.

My Gmail comes into Thunderbird, which has never been affected. Chrome has been perfect for a while until today where there were one or two moments it wasn't working.

Yip, slow sometimes with a delay of 20s for redirects. On Cell C using Opera.

That's probably a Cell C issue.
Just blame everything on Cell C. Even when others are experiencing the same issue on multiple networks. Something tells me the problem is with Google's servers and links in SA.

Yes and no, the giveaway in this case was Opera. But I'm sure Cell C is a contributing factor, perhaps not this time though. It seems to be limited to Chrome. Perhaps Opera is affected too, it's a rare browser and when people move e.g. from Chrome to Firefox, the problem goes away.

I don't think its limited to Chrome as my gmail is set up on Windows Mail and a large attachment would start to download and then just hang.

PS: I do use 8.8.8.8 as one of my DNS servers...

I've tried accessing GMail in a Firefox instead of Chrome and the difference in performance in remarkable! I can now access my mail via Firefox. Yay!

But seriously, what gives? What changed so that Google Chrome is not working very well?

The problem lies with chrome. Chrome uses a experimental protocol guic this causes issues on some networks. To disable: Navigate to chrome://flags/ and disable quic protocol

Nice one, will be trying this when the issue hits. Possible to link to some discussion/info to verify this?

This solved my problem instantaneously.. why the hell would chrome implement something like this and not test it properly?
