Slow international traffic

Anyone else having a bad day with network connectivity ?

My local traffic seems fine but international sites are not loading, I saw on the neiborhood group many people are complaining about similar issues across multiple providers. The wife has go no connectivity at work.

Have one of the undersea cables broken again ? It doesn't feel like a localised problem, perhaps its just CT ?

Google is down for moi. Some international working, but many not.

On a 1 Gbit/sec line at work in Stellenbosch and international download is much worse than upload.

Seeing people complain on Mweb too. Wonder how IS/NTT doesn't have enough capacity on other cables given their size.

This is not the first time this has happened with NTT and won't be the last.

They are usually plagued with slow moving logistics and business bureaucracy that catches them in these situations.

Interestingly SACS is also down from ZA because the route to Angola is down on WACS.

Scheduled maintenance isn't super newsworthy, but if people are experiencing slowdowns they will want to know why.

I'm seeing more people in Cape Town complaining than in Gauteng.

I wonder if there's a technical reason, or if people in Gauteng just have a higher tolerance for pain.

Hmm depends as you can take protection on that path.

Guess the protection commercials didn't make sense to SA university networks which is understandable since EASSy and Equiano gets the job done for the most part.
