Hi folks

We are currently experiencing severe speed problems with MyADSL. I have phoned Hetzner and they think it is due to peering link problems between UUNet and SAIX. I will keep you informed as soon as I get more concrete information.

Regards,

RPM

Yea the sites realy slow from ADSL's side (almost like i'm capped), I seem to be able to access it thow if i proxy through openweb.

not at all slow from my side but then again we are with UUnet and hetzner is on UUnet backbone. Must be the peering link. Also our VPN's on ADSL to our head office is crawling which would also indicate the peering.

getting there, it was totaly dead a few minutes ago. :)

Yea its better but still sluggish.

Hi Folks

I have just spoken to UUNet and there is indeed a peering problem with SAIX. Any person trying to access UUnet resources from the SAIX network (or vice versa) will be affected by this problem. UUNet & Telkom is investigating this problem and they are trying to resolve it ASAP. Unfortunately they could not give a time frame, but they hope it will be in hours rather than days…

Regards,

RPM

This is just an exacerbation of a problem that has been ongoing. I know clipse has been trying to find out whats going on for a while now.
Anyways packet loss between saix and uunet running at about 25% atm.

Got servers in UUNet's datacenter, this has been going on for weeks already. At times as high as 300ms from my DSL to my server at UUNet.

I'm getting to the stage where I'm considering to move my machines... -shrugs-

Hopefully the SNO will increase local bandwidth with their Eskom fiber optic backbone. In my personal opinion all the peering links between the three top-tier ISPs (SAIX, UUNET, IS) is currently a disaster.

Hi guys

Telkom also got back to me and an upgrade of the link has taken place. This might have been the main cause of the problem. According to Telkom this upgrade is either finished or very close to finished.

I must say that Telkom’s communication with MyADSL is currently very good. I called their corporate communications officer (was out of office) and received feedback from a technical guy within 30 minutes. The same happened a few days ago. To jump from never available and ‘no comment’ to this is not bad. Even Mad might be impressed :D

Thats great, perhaps they are slowly starting to realise that they are better off having a bunch of happy MyAdsl users, than unhappy ones.
Its was fairly quick so give them their dues, nice job.
