Slow Speeds

at the moment it seems to be working at an acceptable speed, but I've lost all faith in the system as I can't rely on it anymore.

I'm not going the 3G route, I already said I'm getting my old leaseline back tomorrow and then ADSL, so I'll keep iburst until the ADSL connection is up.

Mr.H I think the 41.208.xx.xx range was from when you went over to the Kenilworth tower like I did last night, so obviously the speeds sucked.

Will you still keep IBurst for use at home?

Yes for now and if it improves and stays consistant as it used to be I'll probably keep it for private use only.

Leaseline for business emails etc.
ADSL for business UL/DL

Then surely between the 3 I should have connection most the time.:D

I can't argue about that since I never checked as I did not feel like disconnecting from the router to test with uttstar.

But besides that it's been bad since they played with the tower even though you said yours got better.

Well mine got marginally better, but I think it is a bit better.

The lights on the modem hit 4 and 5 more often now.. except I have something funny. After my modem has some activity it often idles around on 4 or even 5, but as soon as you use it again, back down to 3 most of the time.

Most people's modems would idle lower than normal right? Well if they ever change from 5 at all that is..

I always have 5 LEDs on whether it's fast or slow so I guess the signal is good all the time even though the speeds are not, and it makes no difference day or night as it can slow down or speed up with both.

Tonight has been really crap ito speed for me ... can't even break 60KB/s on my multithreaded downloads :(

Local seems ok, but US traffic is **** slow. been downloading a 16Mb file now for the last 40 minutes or so

Its podcast updates from iTunes. "tips from the top floor" for what its worth :p

That level is good for 2G (GPRS / Voice) but not 3G, have you logged this with the network operator?

Wow.. where'd you come from.

How exactly do you make a post in the completely wrong forum, and totally off topic? Surely you opened your eyes sometime while you were on the way here?
