Have been getting very slow speeds through WebAfrica for the past few days. International as well as local is up the creek.

On a 4Mb line I am getting this:

Local:



International:



The Seacom outtage shouldn't have affected them, but I am sure it has. I am very surprised to find that local is also slow as I never experienced that before.

Anyone else using them also getting the same?

Update: Just tested my backup Afrihost account and am getting this, which resulted in much better speeds locally:

This is certainly not the speeds you should be getting on the account.

I would like to investigate the account for you and have it logged with our engineers for further investigation.

I have a Webafrica Titan account.

I tested on the same servers as you.

The speed is good but whats with the high ping? That's way too high for a local server. The Durban server had similar results.

The New York server had terrible speed results but ok ping though:

Also tried a Texas server, terrible speed and ping:

London server had good speeds but very high ping again:

Looks like something is wrong?

must be honest I normally LOVE WA

Im on the WA prepaid unshaped, and use it when I have issues with MWEB

Last night I did notice that it was a bit up and down... kinda wierd coz normally its TOP NOTCH!!

Hi Guys, think international is slow due to Seacom being down.

I have tested THE NY Servers you guys tested, and get more or less the same speed from my Server hosted at Internet Solutions (Campus) in Bryanston.

Local is quite slow as well, although upload is awesome.

Think Seacom is the one to blame for all this.

I am also having issues within WoW. A guild mate who also uses WA and I are having incredibly high latencies.

WA doesn't use Seacom just by the by..
 
yeah but you guys must remember, since seacom went down, all traffic is routed on the SAT3/SAFE cable, so therefore, all traffic is being diverted on the SAT3/SAFE cable and I dont think its fast enough to handle the extra usage.
 
What is causing high latency on local servers?

High latency on local servers started for me on Monday using SAIX (TI not WA). I used to get 10 - 20 ms and now 800 - 1000+ ms to Vodacoms server! I first noticed the high latency when myBB took longer than usual to start loading. Speeds to local server are still very much the same as what it used to be. What can cause high latency on the local net?
