Slow

I don't feel it's congestion or other users since my problems started when wbs (or whoever works for them in CT) took the base station down for "servicing", up until that point my modem was flying and I probably had one of the fastest connection on this forum, and I'm sure many of the older members can remember me boasting about my speeds and I used to wonder why they were complaining.... I think I have now joined their ranks don't you?

You say you are 7km away and you are getting speeds almost as fast as I used to get, these days I'm lucky if I top 512kbps during the night, and during the day if I hit 300kbps I count myself lucky.
If the tower was overloaded you would also be getting the same crappy speeds.

To answer your first reply, yes I have called wbs plenty of times but the only 2 people that have been any help were Shaun and Porcia, as for the rest all they ever do is tell me to check my MTU and say there is nothing wrong their side.
That been said there is no point in calling them UNLESS I can get hold of Shaun or Porcia.

Hmmmm.....lemme find out stuff and I let you know....do me a favour if you have'nt heard from me.....please know I am vrek busy....with Server etc.....you don't wanna know how busy that WBS oke is......it a shame actually but he is good at what he does......Lemme see....

I live in bergvliet also 7km from Plumbstead tower, well I think its more like 6.5 or something. But I dont get 1mb/s at all anymore. I downloaded a file after midnight last nigh and it only ever went up to 80kb/s.. usually slower around 60-70kb!

I used to get over 100kb all the time especially at night. I geuus Im just in a worse area that you are as far as signal strength/coverage goes BroadbandICTHoldings.

I'm just hoping that moveing to a new, uncongested (for a while), tower with an antenna will put my speeds back to what they used to be.

Nope sometimes the further your distance the better, height too,u know the usual ..I have customer's on the Muzienberg coast and Lakeside and Baden Powell working, on respectable speeds I conside it quite fast too!

cape town speed vs jhb speed are two completly two different concepts :D

Definately is.. nice and flat, well obviuosly.

BBICTHoldings, could you comment at all on when about those new towers, Constantia and/or Kirstenhof, will be completed?
I will recieve much better service from them, so any idea?

Are you an iBurst channel partner?

For the sake of not giving competitors like 3G ,DSL and unfair advantage based on how these stations go up.....all I can say is.....lemme find out and I will try and word it in a manner that gives you an outline.....but doesn't give the methodology and process behind the project away.....so will let you know....

Kirstenhof is quite problematic.....there are some weird dead spots....lol.....Tokai is flat but I gather there's lotsa interferences....:(

Thanks man... I'm not connected to Iburst at all, or a channel partner, I just use the service. I also wont be letting your secrets about when towers come up slip to your competitors. Anyway they are already planned on your site? SO can a date harm anyone? Even if you just want to PM it to me it would be great thanks.

Anyone have any idea which tower would serive me better, Constantia or Kirstenhof? I live in Bergvliet right next to Ladies Mile road where it says "the bend" on the maps. My area is becoming darker grenn thankfully but Im not shure which tower is causing this.

you should be served by the kirstenhof tower, when it comes up towards the end of the year

End of the year?? What about two towers a week. They havent put a single one up for almost a month.

Well its good theyre moving somewhere anyway. Better be getting that 2mb/s as well now that I have to wait so long. Hopefully Constantia will come up sooner, it should be better than Plumbstead for me anyway.

JHB is the current focus of resources for WBS so currently 2 towers a week in JHB...etc......this is just an exercise to cement the signal coverage, so base stations are most likely going to go up in areas that are already 'covered' but not to WBS's 'standards'....so we can most likely expect base station towards the end of the year....not too far off.....afterall it is practically Christmas ...I mean it's April already! :D

No I can't plan the base stations or locations thereof, WBS does that......I am a channel partner not part of infrastructure architecture or part of WBS...

Oops.. i said your site. I meant Iburst/WBS's.
I just wanted to know if you had a planned date or estimate for the towers to go live, but it must be end of the year i geuss.

You just seem so connected too them, always saying you cant talk about developments etc.. my bad.

Anyway, two towers arent nearly going up a week in JHB, but i dont care much thats okay... but they did announce that to MyADSL a while ago. Should have made it more like two a month, poeple still would have been amped.

It's been awhile since I called helpdesk since they are normally useless as I already stated, BUT my modem won't connect to the base station so I tried calling o11-8774704 which is the number I used before to call helpdesk and now it says"
"the number you dialed has changed and the new number is currently not available"

Ok so what the hell do I do now since I can't connect and I can't call helpdesk for answers???
And once I get off this modem I am on now I have no way to even read this forum.

So what the hell is going on with the international connection for the past 2 weeks, and I've lost count of how many times it's been down.
One thing I know is that even when iBurst has lost international a dialup modem still has connection which seems to indicate that the problem lies with iBurst.
