Slowly dying. Need a change.

but you'd need to have outsourced employment - the job market here is fundamentally imploded so you need to be doing work that is not localized

IT support you say ..

Would be cool :)

Good advice, which is what I'm doing. Negative judgment. I just can't take this slow death anymore. If someone throws a blunt knife at you for months on end, yes you become tough. You get a thick skin. You think after a while, Man, I can face anything, because I'm really able to face the whole crowd and their negative attitudes, all their hate is nothing. But deep down, you hurt. You are only human. Your psyche can only process so much pain.

Please see above. It's not so much the environment. I am no.1 supporter of this town, this province, this place. But I've just had enough.
I'm single, not dating and not interested in dating. But I do want friends and I love socializing and having a laugh and fun.

I don't think you can do the quiet coastal town and still earn a decent living easily, at least not in IT Support.

I would suggest maybe investigating CPT or DBN, there is at least a decent job market of sorts in both cities, and you can have a nice life by the sea.

I need less people like you in my life.

December. Holiday only once a year. I am burnt out, being sick now doesn't help much either, but I am not making harsh decisions now. I'm just chatting.

Set up a beach bar on St Helena islands... i would wake up smiling EVERY DAY!

I remember you once lashing out at myself and DJ... (i think it was DJ...) over something related to you taking things too personally. I still think that's what your problem is. It's always everyone else...

How much can you make overseas teaching english?
Depends which country. . .
For instance, in Japan you can earn anywhere from 260,000- 320,000. . .and with the cost of living you can be left with just under half your salary left. . .
All you need is a Degree in order to get a working visa,(doesn't matter what) plus it helps to net a job easier.
(The Degree is just so you can get the working visa that's why they have it as a requirment. . .)

But you don't even need the Degree or any other Certificate to teach English, as long as you are a native speaker you can get the job. . .so if you can get something like a working holiday visa or similar then you can still work as a teacher there. . .

And on a upside there is virtually no crime there.

Aren't you thinking of Koosi ?

@tera, I was actually wanting to ask whether you think the problem lies with you or your environment?

I'll keep it short and sweet.

I'm very grateful for what I have and what has been given to me, but I've had enough of the negativity and constant judgment of who I am and what I stand for. From the start of the day to the end of it, my life feels like a complete target practice event and I'd like a change.

I'm 31, no dependents. Some debt (I need to work to be able to settle this).
I'm not a whiz kid and won't be the next Shuttleworth, but I'm in IT Support and have been in a management position for some time.

I need a change. I need a new life. I need a new town. I need a new lifestyle even if it means money is tight. Doesn't phase me much, never has and never will.
I'm not about to look into the Corporate ladder again and I'm not about to look into trash cans either, but I am standing up for myself.

If anything, I'm sad I'm only doing it now.
My family doesn't care much for me either, so I'm not leaving anything behind.

Please give me some ideas as to what direction to look into.

Thanks :)

I guess I need to be the one who says it...but could it be that the problem is YOU? And that no matter where you go this won't change because the problem will be going with you.

Why don't people like you? Why do they judge you? And do they really judge you...or do you just feel judged(persecution complex)?

Who are you and what do you stand for? This you obviously aren't willing to change...so is that not maybe the problem? And if you choose not to change whatever you are and where you stand for...then aren't you likely to simply perpetuate this problem?

Why doesn't your family care for you? Again why don't people care for you in general? Normally when that happens it's not because they are the problem...

Nope, definitely this guy. If I remember correctly he's bi-polar or has some similar disorder.

I also think that he initially changed locations or jobs for the same reasons in his OP and the cycle seems to be repeating there too, which is why I maintain he's the problem. He's going to have the same issues regardless of where he goes unless he changes his attitude.

This goes without saying. A psychiatrist is the only solution here with some "happy pills" thrown in. Get the chemical balance in the brain back on track. The rest will follow.

And this is honest advice, not me being sarcastic.

I am located exactly where I have been for how long I have. Concerning my mental health. I was diagnosed with certain mental blocks which has subsequently been proved to be the cause of severe sleep apnea, or rather extreme lack of oxygen to my brain. My psychiatrist and I have a very good relationship thank you very much.

Thanks for the judgment and target practice. Appreciate it. But I guess I was the cause? Right?

No, that's not it. You have to first find the root cause of the problem before you can fix it. And if you find that the problem lies with you, you take measures to fix it.

There you go again. Victimizing yourself.

There you go again. Victimizing yourself.

Exactly what I was thinking. Unfortunately people with this type of personality will take whatever criticism, positive or negative, and swing it so that they are being victimised. There is a reason that your colleagues and family don't like you (or you perceive them not to like you) and I can guarantee you are the lowest common denominator here.

Look how your posts have progressed just in this thread from no one loves likes me I need a change to becoming hostile while people suggest valid problems - even if you don't like them.

This thread is going in 2 separate directions. Those that say "Yay! Go for the change! You can do it" which you will be loving and be giving the standard "Awesome, thanks so much for the understanding and support!" replies and those that tell you exactly what's wrong which you will be giving the standard "Thanks for the judgment and target practice. Appreciate it. But I guess I was the cause? Right?" reply, just like you already did.

Let me sum this up for you. You're feeling sorry for yourself and instead of sorting out the core issue. which is your attitude. you are coming here and expressing that and people can already see from a mile away what the problem is. Your current attitude may not be entirely your fault but a product of your environment or prolonged exposure to negativity but it's always the first thing that needs to change to turn a situation around. You want to move somewhere quiet because the less people there are around you then less people there are to deal with you, as a person, and therefore the less people there are to get tired of your ****. Newsflash: 1 person around than doesn't want to deal with you is 100% of people not liking you vs 100 people around with 10 people not liking you which is 10%.

Identify what will make you happy and go for it. No one likes whiny bitchy attention whores. It's not your job to make people like you, there will always be people who don't. Hell tons of people don't like me. Just give them the middle finger and carry on being awesome. Works for me every time :)
