Hi there

I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice on the different cloud back solutions in ZA.

I have looked at:
1. BackIT Online Backup
2. CrashPlan PROe
3. Redstor

It is for a very small business and data is a couple of 100GB. Internet is a challenged, but I am looking at some different options.

Any suggestions or any experience with any of the above?

Thanks,

the problem i found is the initial upload of the data.. with the brilliant upload speeds we have on DSL in this country its going to take ages.. if they have the option to allow you to ship the data to them on a drive, that would be nice, provided of course that the data is not sensitive..

There are a couple of options, the cheapest option would be to set up an AWS Amazon S3 bucket. It will give you the best price for 200gb, But the only problem is you upload and download speed. I use them for archiving my work files and home files, becuase I would not be in a rush to download them as the download speed for the S3 buckets are quite slow.

Another option would be DropBox, Yep, I said it. It may be one of the pricier options per gb, but with its desktop software and phone integration it makes synching files very handy and easy, which comes in handy when you need to activly use the storage space. And if your not a DropBox fan, then Google Drive is pretty good.

Next on the option list is grabbing a dedicated server from a South African data center (I recommend Hetzner which is where I have my servers), You can post a hard drive to them and the will add it to your server, then FTP will work great after a basic setup in ssh.
