Planing to add to my porfolio on Tuesday - using EE so although it's a small amount at least there are no minimums. I looking for growth and would like to add some more small caps

So far have:

AdaptIT
Aspen
Attacq
Choppies
Discovery
EOH
Holdsport
PSG
Purple
Sygnia
Taste
Spar
Woolworths

Companies I am looking at ::
Petmin
RBA
Finbond
Rhodes
Amecor

I do like Taste, so might carry on adding a few although I am well aware that's it's a long term play.

Have always want Steinhoff (had a few years back but sold at around R22 -) - might be a good time to add as well.

But really looking at small caps.

That's a heck load, personally I prefer to hold no more than 4 individual shares and the core of my portfolio will be ETFs

Your looking for solid growth, dividends payout etc.

PSG / Replace with Choppies
Discovery
Rhodes food
Curro

SATRIX Indi
Grindrod Divi
DBXWD
RMBMid

Do have some ETF's in my TFSA - Indi, Divi, Fini and DBXUS. But I do find etf's boring - I like keeping up with SENS. I think you approach though, is a good one with the bulk being ETF's.

I'm a boring investor hehe.

The only risk I take is playing my ipod on shuffle.

I am pretty new to this and I see Curro mentioned quite a lot and although it seems to be performing right now I don't get why so many are interested in it .

Still has lot's of room to grow. Between Curro and Advtech you would have thought they had cornered the market on private schools in SA - I was surprise to find this was not true at all - cannot remember the exact figure, but way less than half - I think it was around 20-30%. So lot's of expansion possibilities. Personally, never owned it - but do have PSG shares - just to get coverage of CPL, COH, ZED, psg konsult and whatever else they decide to cook up. Over 5 years - CPL 203% (it did struggle while ABL crashed), PSG 377% and Coh 406%

Curro is really doing very, very well and I see it a fantastic investment opportunity.

They plan on opening 800 more private schools over the next few years and they are well on track with their target. Their schools are increasing in popularity, along with it they get an increasing number of new learners year on year. From my own personal experience, I have noticed that they are also 'stealing' the best teachers from a number of public schools around the country.

The biggest drive for their success is the failing educational system in SA and lack of government leadership. All around, more and more people are opting to enter their children to these schools for a better educational opportunity.

Also, as mentioned by Thor, it has the right management and experience to make it a success. Both the schools and the investment.

I remember a few years ago, perhaps 3, 4 or 5 years ago, I was walking in a shopping center when I was approached by this woman who introduced us to Curro. I recognized her as the founder of Mr. Delivery. So, I suspected back then that she probably invested in Curro too. But, what got to me was the fact that these people, being founders / directors / investors in Curro was willing to go out to shopping centers and market the school themselves. Not using marketers to do this, but they themselves. Back then I told my wife that Curro would by a flying success if they were willing to do this.

I see absolutely no reason why Curro share cannot reach the R100-R150 mark within the next 2-3 years.

@ Papsak

Have you considered Santova (SNV), Balwin (BWN) & CalgroM3 (CGR)?

Maybe some Astoria (ARA) for offshore investing?

All decent picks - picked up a few balwin yesterday. Santova is probably the only logistic company that I would consider - but as a whole, not really a fan of them due to the low barrier to entry and it seems low margins. I missed the boat on M3 - but if I was interested might wait for a bit of a pull back - trading at all time high it seems. ARA not sure about, bit cheaper to buy DBX... that said, depends on the 20/30%? private investments they have planned.

I prefer KAP over Santova

That do you guys think about Sun int shares ?
Maybe over the next year or so ?

I'd stay away tbh. Especially if online gaming becomes legalised in SA,they'd take a pretty big hit and their only online presence is Sunbet, which is terrible.
