Small caps to watch?

Why do you "no go" ?
I was thinking, with their current acquisition of Peermont, and the massive development in Menlyn, could it not be worthwhile?

I have a rather crude system when picking shares, I'm a n00b so bare with me, I look at the last 3 years, if thats a good thing I buy, if its meh I look at 5 years and then repeat

Sun INT hasn't been doing well unless you know something we don't

aah, that makes a bit more sense.
Thanks for your reply.

That's my viewpoint on the future but they have made some good aquisitions but you'd need to research those companies and hoe they've done etc.Im just taking a long term view point here.

No inside info, unfortunately.
The impact online gaming scenario could have on the gaming industry makes a lot of sense. When and if the gaming regulators decide to allow that. I didn't even consider that.
What i thought about was the Menlyn project. That they've already started on just recently. That's going to be huge.

Is it worthwhile to only buy a couple of shares, or do you buy the same ones every month to increase your overall amount?

I throw a max of R500 at each company and see how many shares that buys.

example. I own 2 shares in Woolies, but hey at least Im a shareholder, right?

Correct :D
My trellidor "investment" has lost me R111 since yesterday already. grrr. I just waiting a bit to see if it gains some, then i'm out and buying Balwin with that money.

I prefer KAP over Santova

I know they have Unitrans, but it is still consdered to be an industrial share. I don't think the long term outlook is that great for industrials in SA.

Past indications has no effect on the future.

It's merely a guide. But those graphs can get fcked up royally by the ANC in no time.

All decent picks - picked up a few balwin yesterday. Santova is probably the only logistic company that I would consider - but as a whole, not really a fan of them due to the low barrier to entry and it seems low margins. I missed the boat on M3 - but if I was interested might wait for a bit of a pull back - trading at all time high it seems. ARA not sure about, bit cheaper to buy DBX... that said, depends on the 20/30%? private investments they have planned.

I agree on M3, but its on my watchlist. I like Santova, so got a few of those. Got some Balwins as well.

ARA is interesting, as stated, the 20/30% private equity is probably something that is not available to most of us, but yes, costs are quite high. I don't have any ARA yet, but also watchlist.

You can have a look at http://smallcaps.co.za/blog/home/ for some other Small Cap companies tracked etc.

No mining.

okay.
Please give me some advice then.
If i sell my trelllidor stock, currently valued at R978. What would you suggest could be a good stock to put that money in?
I wont scream murder if your suggestion tanks :-p
I'm still very new to all this and basically still feeling the waters. Right now i'm just looking at something short term.

Trellidor fell a bit today. I think you may be in too much of a hurry to sell it at a loss now. Why not rather keep it there for some time? Even only until you made a small profit and then look at selling it?

Thanks Toothless.
I'll do that, and wait a bit and then rather put some extra money into other stocks once i have some spare cash available.

Do that.

Remember, Trellidor is newly listed. I think there are a lot of room for improvement in terms of their share price for now. I referred you earlier to an article which sowed some doubt over Trellidor. While I tend to agree with that article, I see it applicable to the long-term. I am sure you will make some profit in the short to medium term. Not a share I would hang on to for the long run.

Thanks for your honest reply, I'll definitely stay on that course for a while and see how it pans out.

Industrial is the only thing this Country has going for it

http://www.satrix.co.za/fund-research-product.php?type=ETF&fund=satrixINDI

There's industrial and there is industrial. A lot of the gains of the Indi have been the two heavy weights - NPN and SAB - between them 40% of the indi - then comes CFR/BTI then MTN - between them another 25% or so.

So which of those would you call industrial? Kap isn't even on the list..nether is Torre. In fact very little on the Indi is indi besides Sasol @ under 5% and if we go out on a limb, IPl at under 0.5%
