I am looking for a good portable laptop or tablet for when I go on holiday next month as my HP envy 17 is too big, heavy and bulky to take with everywhere.

Mostly for browsing and basic games and also needs to run Java so Windows 8.1/10 is needed.

So far I have seen these for around 4k, leaning towards the Chromebook for the SSD and memory, but not sure.

If you have any suggestions please share and budget is 4k or less if possible.

You want to buy a laptop/tablet just for going on holiday?

You're on holiday, your phone should suffice for "browsing and basic games."

Well I need something which uses Java as my Samsung Tablet and phone can't do it, also it is my birthday gift to myself this month.

Do you foresee yourself using this device much outside of holidays? Look, I don't want to tell you how to spend your money (not just because I pay your salary) but we worry about you, man.

Well if you can think of a solution on how to use Java on android without taking my big laptop with and I will use it when going out also sometimes.

I'd save up and buy a proper portable computer - an ultrabook. But that would only make sense if you're going to use this more often than just when going on holiday.

But R4000 on a cheapie computer seems like a waste to me.

Already got my HP Envy 17 which does most things I need so don't need an ultrabook just want something which I can do everything (office/java etc.) without worrying about lugging my 17" laptop around.

Will double also as my work laptop when my business gets busy and I have to be on the go doing house calls.

Don't need to say anything about the money as I have bought 7 3ds consoles for fun and other multiple things in my life time and still save quite a lot of money, I make/save more than I spend :D.

Using the 17" which takes up quite a lot of table space at a coffeeshop compared to a 11" is another reason.

Will check and see thanks

Yeah I also hate it when my laptop takes up too much table space at the coffeeshop and doesn't leave much room for my decaf sugar-free soy latte and cranberry-drizzle cookie.

Also forgot the eating trays on aeroplanes seems like they cater more for tiny laptops/tablets than anything else with the small tables and trays.

I have the older/Android version of this thing:

If the windows version is anything like the Android version it is a serious winner imho.

I get around 20 to 30 hours of use per charge :)

I use a 11" Acer Aspire E 11 when traveling. It has a SSD so no fan needed for that extra weight and the battery lasts longer. I think it is the cheapest laptop available as it has 32 GB memory and 2 GB ram. Fast enough at 2.58 Ghz.
For under 2 grand, I think it is an ideal travel companion with it's 2 USB ports (one is USB 3) plus an SD card slot.

Where did you buy it seems similar to the Cromebook I like?
