Small Laptop/Tablet

Just taken delivery today of an Acer Aspire Switch 10E, from Takealot. 64GB with touch screen. Win10 now installing... Neat little laptop/tab with clip-on keyboard. Haven't used it yet, but is good value.

Do you keep upgrading to Windows 10 via Windows Update or do you use the ISO?

Doesn't look too bad for the price. I'm also looking into buying a chromebook, but haven't quite found the right one yet.

I will probably install Windows on my Chromebook as the Chrome OS didn't sound interesting after watching a few videos on youtube.

Hehe. I let the internet deliver the upgrade. Went without a hitch and now done.

Does the ISO also upgrade Home?

This is for playing music (into an AV amp) off the NAS and replaces the ancient Asus W5F. Will today teach the wife how to use a touch screen. Hope she gets it eventually. It took years to get her to operate a smartphone. :p

The ISO upgrades every Windows version.

I am looking for a good portable laptop or tablet for when I go on holiday next month as my HP envy 17 is too big, heavy and bulky to take with everywhere.

Mostly for browsing and basic games and also needs to run Java so Windows 8.1/10 is needed.

So far I have seen these for around 4k, leaning towards the Chromebook for the SSD and memory, but not sure.

Unfortunately only Makro sells them in partnership with M$.

ASUS T100 - I've had one for 2.5 years, use it as a work portable because I prefer a desktop but then need something for meetings and when I travel.

Arguably one of the best pieces of technology I've bought, I would definitely recommend this as a tablet/netbook convertable.

Cool the 32 gb SSD in the Chromebook makes a huge difference starts up Windows 8.1 so quickly wish I had one in my HP Envy 17.

Was three any complications in formatting the laptop from chrome OS to windows? Or just straight forward boot-up from USB?

You have to enable developer mode first in Chrome OS then it is easy after that and you format all the partitions until you got none left then you make a new one.

The only problem is that you can't use the keyboard or mouse besides the usb ones until you flash the bios by removing the write-protect screw, but that voids the warranty as you have to remove the sticker over the one screw.

If one is able to remove the sticker and put it back on you keep the warranty.

The laptop I bought from Takealot.com had a crack underneath it so had to return it for a replacement, but they couldn't get another so back to square one again.

I enjoyed it a lot until I saw the crack and can't find anything else cheap enough with a SSD :(.

Is this really alot more portable than the 17"?

Yes way lighter than my 17 inch and easier to take to clients and stuff than removing all my cables everytime on my HP envy.

Also I use my HP envy as my PC so it downloads all the time so don't want to have to interrupt it everytime I have to go somewhere and the other plus to this laptop is that it lasts twice as long on the battery.
