Small Towns?

I'm in a quiet little town south of Durban. I'm sorry but it just fcking sucks on weekends.I have not made ANY friends here besides holidaymakers!
I mean all the pubs are full with old people who I can't really socialise with. And I cannot drive 50km's to Margate. man there is no buzz here.
I'm heading back to Jhb next year though. But the pace is incredibly different. everything is alot more quieter than the rat race!
But I need my friends..damn

I live in a small place & really don't give a schit about what goes on around me, I don't even know what goes on around me.

I prefer big towns, like Cape Town. Don't know if I'd want to live in a big city, but I do like spending time there.

You must be coming from somewhere really small.

Love how you call Cape Town a big town not a city ;) I couldn't live in a small town or even a small city, suburbs with one shopping centre drive me mad.

Think I would end up killing myself in a small town .

Mauritius all the way:twisted:

Isn't Mauritius basically a small town ? :p

I grew up in a small town called Middelburg in Mpumlanga. We moved to JHB a few months before I turned 18, I doubt I'll ever want to go back to living in a small town.

Btw, anyone here been to Roosenekal before ? My grandparents have a farm there and I am sure Roosenekal is probably one of the smallest towns in the country.

Fark it that place is cold. The only time you'll catch me wearing a hoodie in summer is in Middelburg.

I live in a small town, not bietjiekleinvoetsekdorpfontein small though, its more like a small city.

Advantages:
1) No traffic. This also means that taxi drivers have no need for some creative stunt driving to avoid traffic jams.

2) Safe. Almost no one has electric fences or burglarpoofing. Its perfectly fine to hang out in public parks at 11 o' clock at night with just 1 or two of your mates.

3) Relaxed atmosphere

Disadvatages:
1) Rock spiders. This place is filled with the most racist POS afrikaners ever, even the teenagers are so racist Verwoed would be proud. Occasionally you'll see a group of the litte shytes hurling rocks at black people, always from a distance/behind a fence/when in a large group though, cowards.

I was in a shop once and a guy says to the shop assistant: "Waar is jou baas?". The shop assistant (black guy) hit the roof and was clearly going to kick the crap out of the guy so he ran away :D.

Walking around in shopping centres barefoot with blackened soles is considered perfectly acceptable behaviour. When hanging out with my best mate (white English oke), we still occasionally get funny looks even in this day and age.

So all in all blatant racism is a daily occurrence here.

2) Bible bashers. There's a bloody church every two kilometres and if I say no thanks I'm an atheist I get physically dragged into a church, held down and forcibly prayed for/baptised. No really this actually happened to me once :D

3) No speciality shops. I you can't get it at Spar/CNA/Incredible Corruption/HiFi Corp/Pick 'n Pay you'll have to resort to online shopping, which I do.

Conclusion: biggish small towns rule, big cities, especialy Johazardousburg, can get bent

Right now I'm about 20km outside of PE living in a small community and I'm enjoying the best, and worst I suppose, of both worlds. A happy compromise as far as I'm concerned. :)

That's perfect
