Smart chip identity cards

What fleva are theees cheeps?

EDIT: Ooops... I guess they are also gravy train fleva

The source asked why assessors conducted no site visits, and said National Pride had no reference sites to prove it could handle the work.

In other words the company does not actually exist yet... but it will when you give us the R15 billion! :D

OMW When is this rubbish actually going to end, we work hard pay tax and some a$$ gets a ride on the gravy train!

Ludicrous gravy train scheme.

Staff involved in designing the tender process should not be allowed to tender.

So each card will cost more than R300 to produce, compared with a global average of less than R50 each.
And if other government projects are anything to go by then it will be another 100% over-budget too. Pathetic.

Sita procurement policies were designed to ensure their integrity
And I'm an emperor. If the procurement policy was designed/influenced by the consortium tendering for it then the "requirements" will obviously be achievable for the consortium.

R300?????!!!!???? Now that is absolutely shocking!!!

Smart card technology is mature these days...unless they want to create a "manto" chip.
And I don't think they've gotten their "own ingenious solution" as they sat with us in the audience at the various presentations at a technical comittee about the e-passport and other technologies.

It's absurdly ridiculous this setting-up of companies that appear to do nothing but milk money from their friends, and then pay a small amount to other companies to do the work. How do you describe what you do when this is your line of work??? (Not that you would care - you're laughing all the way to the bank, thinking how dumb the millions of South Africans living in poverty must be when making millions is SO easy).

I think the Companies House should add these as valid industry classification, because they sure are lucrative lines of work:
"Government tender obtainment services"
"Friendly connection and BEE-alization services"

You'd laugh, except it's really so tragic, and really undermines state structures, state services and of course state credibility. And yes, we're all footing the bill. Powerless in every way.

:o

W.T.F. I just realized this is 100% like the joke my dad told me a few months back.

SA Gov tender process for building a wall. 3 applicants (Italian, German, South African). Italian says he can do it for R5m. German says he'll do it for R7m. South African says he'll charge R15m. So the Gov official goes to the SA contractor and asks him why he is submitting so embarrassingly high prices. The SA contractor whispers in the official's ear: R4m for you, R4m for me and we'll hire the German to do the work.

That is the way the joke was told to me (except for the numbers...I forgot those). If you check the article...there is a Government official (SITA), there is a SA contractor, a German Co will be doing the work, the tender process is crooked and the amount charged is ludicrously high. If I had the list of proposals I could check if there is an Italian too.:D

One of his gripes is that National Pride is 45% owned by Lefatshe Technology, which houses the former Sita staff.

OMW! Those are our former partners! Bunch of thieving, lying, conniving b*****ds! I will never do business with them ever again, they couldn't implement a piss up in a brewery!

I do feel sorry for the slaves that work there though! :(

Cost is insane

This is a mad amount of money - cost more than the CERN Hadron Collider. Why do we need smart cards anyway?

It is not funny anymore...How can people get away with things like this?

They can and they will, they have the majority vote, and they will have the majority vote again come next election. So by any reasoning the majority of South Africans do not just condone current ANC corruption, they will cast their support again, asking for some more. Welcome to democracy.

The auditor-general had checked Sita's tender processes, and found the selection panel contained people with the right skills mix.

I would be really interested in what that skills mix was. Maybe something like 100% ANC members.

anc wants more money. they more corrupt by the day

Yip they want more money- have you seen what it costs nowadays to renew your vehicle license? R30 transaction fee, pushing it to R200. Fscking bastards

Like a Canadian acquaintence I know says- they will look for any means possible to make money out of their citizens.
