Smartwatch vs Pebble vs MetaWatch

I was hopeing to get a Sony Smartwatch for my new Sony Xperia S but thanx to a recent Gizmodo article think I am glad I did not do the impulse buy as I think the Pebble will be a much better idea/device

Sony SmartWatch: http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/accessories/smartwatch/ (Android)
Pebble: http://getpebble.com/ (iOS + Android)
Meta Watch http://www.metawatch.org/ (iOS + Android)

Apple's Nano might also be worth mentioning as some people turn it into a watch using 3rd party straps like http://lunatik.com/

So is there other gadget geeks here that are interested in getting a watch that links to your phone or would you stick to things like the Nano?

I've been to the Kickstarter website a couple of times to look at the Pebble. Looks like an awesome gadget. Almost clicked on buy a couple of times...but just couldn't do it. Also worried about battery life, especially with your phone now having to have bluetooth on.

I'll wait for the first reviews and user feedback, then jump in. :)

This watch is finally available in South Africa! They don't seem to be marketing it *at all*, but I got it from the Sony store in Vodaworld in Midrand for R1500. I even wrote an app for it! Check out my write-up here: http://bit.ly/Z3AaMt
