Smashed and Grabbed

Thanks, guys, at least I am fine, just shocked how fast this has happened.
The thing is I booked my car for detailing today, so when I rocked up this morning with all the glass pieces, they were a bit shocked. So my Spider is at Audi Sandton currently, and I will go get a case number on my way home.

the company already told me it is fine, as long as I have a case number, they get me a new phone. And my own insurance will also need the case no. for the window replacement as well.

I think I need to install smash and grab protective film to all my cars now... Eish, not a lekker morning for me.

You should know that having a phone attached to your dash is just asking for problems.unfortunately in this country you have to hide everything away.
I always thought that no one will trouble me as I am driving a niche brand, that probably let my guard down.

My wife was smash-and-grabbed on the Nelmapius offramp from the R21N, Smash-and-grab film made absolutely no difference...

Whew! Got lucky there.
Apparently the chances of getting it from that situation is very very low in the first place, the doctor put me on ARVs which are horrible and for a month it sucks. You've then got to go through for blood tests for quite sometime sigh.
Yeah was just told by the dr I was an idiot for dragging him over the glass.

Sorry to hear.

Last week in CT CBD (Adderley Street) a guy almost got my wife's wallet and phone. Both were lying on her lap and the guy came out of nowhere and stuck his arm through her open window. Her reflexes were quick enough to grab both the wallet and phone and throw both to me. I was like WTF, I didn't see a thing, just felt the stuff falling by my feet. While she was shouting "No" at him, the idiot shouted "No" back at her and ran. We're still confused as to why he was shouting at her.

Sorry OP. I was smashed and grabbed 3 months after getting my new car. Was horrible. I was driving around in a stupor for like 5 minutes before regaining my wits and realising I should get to a police station. Had tint installed soon as the window was fixed.

Yep, as mentioned, tint helps a little, but more for stopping them seeing in as easily. They still get through it. Hence I have both tint, and don't drive with visible stuff ever if i can help it.

F the doctor and who ever else called you an idiot. At least one criminal got injured in that, just a pity you also got injured or had to go through the arv drama.

He still ended up with the phone though :-(

That's a big pity. Ideally a truck would've run the SOB over. :(
My wife stopped me getting out the car and running after him, the problem is it was pitch black outside as well so he disappeared in 30 seconds.

Ya, the guy that got my phone also disappear real quick, 5s, he is full 30-40m away.

Yup it's amazing how fast it happens. Happened next to me once on Hans Schoeman here in Randburg, guy grabbed the bag and phone from a ladies car. Taxi freaking chased him down, guy in front of her got out the car and ran after him too, but he ran down the embankment and disappeared.

Ya, for me, not even one car was hooting, and when I looked at the rear view mirror, the guy acts like so normal as nothing had happened

I'm sorry man, it does suck and unfortunately sometimes it is normal :-(

I wonder if you grab one of these guys by the arm and assault them how much schite one would get in.

I've asked this question before - well, asking what would happen if you were to run them over on a motorbike. And the results were.. Inconclusive. I probably won't run them down for fear of going to jail.

I've seen a taxi run over a smash and grabber. He had his hand in a victim's car and the taxi driver drove up close and squashed him between the car and taxi. Then people got out and moerd the ****er. Was good to see.
