Hey guys!

Check out Smite! It's a really cool take on the MOBA genre! 3rd person skillshot! Lots of action! A couple different game modes! Very challenging!

Heros are base on Mythological gods : Greek, Roman, Norse, Hindu, Chinese, Mayan with more that 50 gods currently available and more to come!!

Casual and competitive players are welcome! :D

Ah, cool, you started a new thread.

Posted a question to you in another thread.

How is the learning curve compared to Dota 2 and LoL?

I mean, the mechanics of Dota is simple enough, but the hard part is getting to know all the heroes, and especially the items and their interaction with each heroes abilities etc. Working an admin job full time, I just can't apply my mind like that after hours. Need at least semi-mindless gameplay, or an awesome storyline so that the game mechanics don't bother as much.

Sorry, I must have missed the Q in the other thread!

It is a moba after all, but it really isn't THAT hard to get into! Very difficult to MASTER it! So does have a little bit of a learning curve! Items, there are a lot as with all moba's I think! So thats going to take some time, but thare is a "basic" autobuild for any god that you want to play! To be honest I found the learning curve a little easier than the classic mobas

The 3rd person perspective is also VERY refreshing and the action is IN YOUR FACE!! Which I really like!

5 different classes : Mage, Hunter, Warrior, Guardian and Assassin

Game modes :
Conquest is like the normal 3 lane minion, jungle and tower game. 5v5
Assault is easiest describes as All Random All Mid, one lane, towers, minions and everyone is assigned a random god. 5v5
Joust is one lane, towers, minions, jungle and 3v3 and 1v1
Arena is an open battle arena with jungle and minions. 5v5
Siege is two lanes, towers, minions, jungle and siege monsters. 4v4
And a random Match of the day either suggested by community members or HiRez staff!

:)

Definitely sounds intriguing. Will check out a couple of videos tonight.

Ever tried Infinite Crisis?

Nope! Dude...I am so hooked on Smite it aint even funny!!! :)

Watching some vids on You Tube now. A very interesting perspective. I'm so used to HoN that this would be a completely different style game to get used to. That said, are some of the 'old faithfuls' still the same? You know, the guarantee that you'll get flamed, raged at, sworn at, and told to go do unmentionable things to one of your parents? :p

Check out Drybear on YT...that dude is AWESOME at Smite!

I have found a couple of toxic players....but not as much!!!! Obviously you get the artards but mostly the community is rather nice!

Also...when playing PVP...you have to expect to get the occasional douchebag!

I played this when it first came out and was hooked for a good few months. Drifted away from it for reason unrelated to the game itself.

I found the playstyle really fun. Being able to line of sight a ranged character, with walls or minions is just awesome. At first I thought this was a little imbalanced in favour of the melee classes, because you can even line of sight the auto attacks. Ultimately though, it is just a different skill curve to deal with and adapt to. The auto attacks get to be really powerful and being able to dodge them means that you can defeat a carry with skill and item choices, not just item choices and faceroll your stuns.

The jungle is also really cool. The buffs in the jungle do not go to the killing character, but get dropped where killed. So you can more easily donate them to a laner. You just ping that you are doing it and they make the move there to pick up the buff when ready.

All in all a really good and immersive game. Feels like there is more skill involved, even though you only control one character. Simply because your damage is not just skill shot based on the abilities but also directional and skill based on your plan attacks. Adding a hack and slash to the MOBA genre.

Are you gonna jump in again...A LOT has changed since open beta!

Busy updating now. Once in I will add you and update this post with my character name. Cannot remember it now of course. I remember buying one of the champion packs in open beta. One that gave access to all heroes and all (possible time limit) future released heroes. So I will see which ones are new.

Just checked the website. Looks liek there are maybe 11 or 12 new gods since I last played. Guess I got some more learning to do. I like being proficient at every hero.

Also, just saw arachnid  . My favourite jungler. Will have to look at any new ones that are considered junglers.

Here and there a couple of things has changed on the gods from open beta to launch...but all in all, they are basically still the same...you should check bakasura's new look!!! So Awesome!!!

Just go and check Arachni again...HiRez changed her skills. She is still very lethal!!!

Need to add in a comment about the steepest learning curve in the game. The internal communication pings. It is another thing that I really love about the game. Learning the codes for calling out retreats, ganks, info, etc.... Being able to voice out a "retreat left lane", instead of just a warning ping that is a bit ambiguous.

True, the "v" commands are a lot to learn but after a couple of games where you check what the commands are when used and start using them yourself...starts to become second nature. It sure as hell beats typing a msg every time something happens. Plus with the voice packs some of these commands are really cool and funny!!! :)

Playing with a group of people that knows these commands is VERY fun!!!
